First 2 shots through paper. 1 bare shaft and one fletched. It’s so close I’m just gonna go straight to broad head tuning.

Wow, you should do build a big soapbox.

A month?
For reals?
Its not some kind of mystical rocket surgery.
A month?
I think if you took a bow down to the zoo, and threw it in the monkey enclosure, one of them would be killing gazelles in the next pen over.....in less than month.
I think someone is trying to sell you something.

Maybe he and I and obviously many others just have more respect for the craft then to say its easy and can be picked up by a monkey in a month.
Maybe we just have a higher level of proficiency demands on ourselves than you.
Maybe we want to do more then fling/spray and pray. That when the arrow leaves the bow we know with a high degree of certainty that it is going where aimed.

Do what works for yall I guess.

I bet that monkey in the zoo puts one thru his foot before a gazelle.

September can't get here fast enough.

I seem to be getting a lot of negative responses to my opinions regarding traditional archery proficiency requirements. Yet for some odd reason no one seems to actually have any real traditional experience to base their conclusions off of.

This guy has a good adventure story going.

Let's don't muck it up.

Day 2 at the range. Just shot my best group ever at 70 while figuring out what sight tape to use. Yesterday you could tell I haven’t had the reps in and I started getting tired so I decided to stop. After a bit of warm up and a few tweaks to the site I shot this group.

2 tiny rest adjustments and I shot the fletching off the BH tipped arrow with my FP arrow at 20 yards. It’s an Ironwill 125 wide head. I shot one of the vented 125 heads first and my FP chipped the back of the blade before I shot the wide and made adjustments to give you an idea of how the regular sized heads fly.
Next trip I’ll shoot BHs out to 50-60 and work on fine tuning my sight once I get the groups I want.
I also lost an arrow. New to the movable sight thing after my 70 yard group using my 20 yard pin to get the sight tape figured out, I forgot to dial it back and drilled the wood frame for the range targets. Doh!

Well a bit of an update. This thing is shooting great. I got an IW 125 wide and a FP to do this at 40 yards;

Then after I got it sighted in and picked out my sight tape I shot each pin (20-30-40) and then rolled my bottom pin to 50 and shot this. Short on time I hit the 3D course and got about 2/3 of the way through before I had to bail and get my son to hockey in August hahaha. I’m feeling pretty good, just gonna get as many trips to the 3D range I can before season starts.
Only one other obstacle, my wife broke her leg a couple weeks ago while hiking. I’m not feeling great about leaving her with an 8 and a 2 year old. She seems ok with me going, but we’ll see. It’s not a bad break and she might be mostly healed by then.
