Bow hunting jacket review - mid temp 30-60 degree

Thinking about setting up a whitetail bow hunting non-insulated jacket review (i figure pants are going to be very similar, but if available would do the same with pants) to look at noise factor, function, weather protection, wind protection, fit, and anything else anyone would want answered.

I have targets in mind for brands, but would be willing to add a few more if there are some good consensus options. Heres what i am thinking right now:

Sitka Stratus
Kuiu proximity LT
Stone glacier headwall
First lite phase jacket
Forloh all-clima soft shell (this is on clearance so is this being discontinued?)
Cabelas/BPS branded softshell (they appear to be coming out with some new stuff right now so will hold on exactly the name, but it will be as close to the above as possible)

Maybe one or two more…open to suggestions

Plan to evaluation fit, function (to include comfort in temperature ranges while in stand), form (to include layerability), wind resistance, water resistance, subjective noise level from multiple people, huntability, and any other reasonable requests people may desire.

Feel free to add suggestions. I want this to be on par with some of the really good reviews we have seen for other applications. I just have not seen a good review done for primarily whitetail bow hunting soft shell options, so figured i would throw out an opportunity to do so.

I currently have the stratus jacket, but none of the others. If anyone wants to donate or allow me to borrow a jacket for this test, i am a size large and would be happy to pay to and from shipping for this. Looking forward to this.

Id like to try the phase jacket but only if they would make it in a solid not a fan of there pattern. Just personal preference. But interested in the kuiu proximity LT as I have the regular proximity and like it a lot but it sure not warm enough for the temps they claim without some extra layers at least for me as I run cold once I’m up in a tree, and that makes it a little to thick for bow hunting..

Throw Midway USA branded jackets in the mix. They have a couple different ones that would fall in that temp range and can be bought cheap right now.
I have the one linked and it’s actually really nice.

Appreciate the heads up on the midwayusa jacket. Purchased one for 47 to my door just now.
Was going to get a cabelas branded one, but had to settle for the redhead (BPs brand) windshear elite. Was on sale for 67 and got it to my door for 40 using discounts and some canelas bucks i had.

That will do it for the cheaper jackets. Will be interesting to see how they stack up agains the big hitters and high dollar jackets.

Code of silence seems to be a bit of a in-betweener for me….their wind resistant jackets are insulated. Their non-insulated jacket is not quite advertised as wind proof.

I will not buy one of these, but if someone has something they want tested i am
Happy to pay for shipping.

Ok, pulled the trigger on a Forloh Allclima soft shell on clearance. Got green solid color.

I still need a First lite phase, kuiu proximity lt, and SG headwall. Size large. Will pay shipping if someone has one to let me test. Will not be doing any kind of brush busting or anything in these.

I will slowly collect these over the next few months as i can purchase them.

Good review. This review is going to be for wind proof uninsulated jackets, and the vellus advertises thinsulate insulation.
Their dalibor jacket would be more in line with what i am trying to test. They advertise that one as highly wind resistant, which again takes it away from my windproof soft shell test.
I am specifically looking for competitors to the sitka stratus with wind “proof” properties and no insulation. I may not have put that as succinctly in ly first post as i should have.

Thanks for the info tho!!

The Kryptek vellus could be interesting, but I believe it is insulated. I have it and love it for 30-60 degrees, so I’d like to see how it stacks up to the other options

The Kryptek Njord is their uninsulated windproof jacket i believe.
Yes that’s it. The Dalibor 3 is also in the same category I believe but not fleece. I think both would be I treating to test. Optics planet has the dalibor 3 for less than $80 right now if it’s in the right size

There is a post in the clothing section about how the kings camo jacket didnt cut the wind at all. They were asking for better wind protection options.

I found the njord line on the kryptek site, but did find it at optics planet for cheaper and i jnow they have sales and sell on canofire too. It appears the njord is their jacket designed for quiet, and the dalibor is more designed as a shell for outdoor use but not a true hunting design.

If i can catch a njord in large on sale, i may pick one up. It is mid priced, not cheap but not terrible. I do have to be aware of costs, but would not be opposed to a low tier, mid tier, high tier level to the test.

Yeah, they had a 50% off deal going all of December it seemed. too bad. My wife has the women’s dalibor line and enjoys it. I haven’t noticed it being noisy, but I’m also not the one wearing it
