Is this an okay arrow setup for elk/whitetail primarily? I was shooting 80lbs with a 125 BH, had an issue whitetail hunting in the cold and couldn’t get my bow back so dropping down to 70. Just want some insight.

Yes, I'm shooting 440gr arrow at 290fps with large cut expandables for elk with great success.

60lbs 435g arrow with broadhead
Elk I killed this year with it didn’t seem to notice

Smart move turning it down. The extra speed/KE you’re getting from 70-80# isn’t worth as much as being able to draw your bow in every situation. Still plenty enough to get it done. Just don’t forget to retune/resight your bow at the new poundage.

I shoot 62 pounds and a 470 grain arrow, fixed bh. I killed this elk with it this year.

How do you get the weight up in the mid/high 400s? I'm shooting 63lbs of draw, 29 draw length and am at about 382 grain on 29" arrows. Is it a heavier insert, broadhead, etc? New to to building/tweaking arrows and seems like there are a lot of variables. I'm hunting whitetail deer for what it's worth
