I always keep my old corks so I have spares just for that exact problem.

I don’t think I have 2 bottles of anything, but that’s a good idea. They are stored in a pantry out of the sunlight but I live I in an extremely dry climate

These last me a looong time. Eagle rare is Probably a 6-7 year old bottle. Blantons is almost 8. 😬

I keep a bag of old corks for the same reason.

What’s the play here 😬 bottle opener seems obvious but do I need another bottle to transfer it to after?

I would definitely say move to a smaller bottle (less oxygen as well). You could also use one of those wine saver/stoppers that remove oxygen. I'm actually considering getting a few for my whiskey that needs to be moved to smaller bottles
