Bourbon

Just picked up an Eli. What’d you think of it? Heading back to KY this week and will probably get a few more bottles to bring home. Here’s last week’s haul:
Its pretty good, like it alot. Will get better over time I'm sure. Love any KC store pks also. Price is really good also.

Some bougi’ness in his thread! I’m done paying too much for bourbon. My favorite has become Old Crow.

There is no correlation with the price of bourbon and its quality. Drink what you like.
I get what you’re saying, there are some low priced options that a person could be perfectly happy with. For me, that’s Redwood Empire Pipe Dream cask strength and even the ultra cheap Bulleit. But I have some high priced stuff in my cabinet that would appeal to the connoisseur and frankly knock the socks off the casual sipper. It depends a lot on taste, but also use case. There’s definitely a correlation in price vs quality, but it’s not an absolute truth…sometimes you pay for the name.

Recent college grad with no money so Pendleton or TX for mixing and Knob Creek for sipper
You ain't that broke buddy! Lol

Just got back from picking a barrel of Sazerac Rye 100... Didn't bring much back. EH Taylor & Willett were the only ones out of the ordinary. Cracked the Willett there, one of the few well known ones I haven't had. We all enjoyed it, but it's wheated and drinks like it.

I think I'll go fix a Sazerac Manhattan.

I had the oppurtunity recently to buy some 8-14 year single barrel willets. But they wanted $40 a year which I though was pretty high so I passed.

Which willett did you get?

Pot Still Reserve, batch 24c17 if you're that into it.

I've had the family reserve, even purple top. And some of the rye. Just not the fancy bottle. Lol

I have had a handful of purple tops and they are the only bottles that have me thinking it may be worth it. Still probably isn't but the purple tops are right up my alley.

Have you had any of the new 4 year purple tops? I tried one and was not a fan at all. I need to try a higher age stated one.
I actually won a 7 year green top on super bowl squares. I won't get it for a couple weeks though

I have actually never had the 4 year. All 7-10 years. Highly recommend getting lunch upstairs at Willet and try some of their high-end stuff for somewhat reasonable prices. The food is excellent as well.

Yea it was all that single barrel pot still stuff. Some bourbon some rye. I would like to try it but commiting to a 400-600 bottle is tough for something I'm not familar with. Ive had plenty of opputunities at the 8 year black bottle purple top. maybe next time I try one. The only willett rye I had was a 4 year old and tastes like burning tires. It was awful.
