Bourbon

Thanks - how's the widow Jane black label? That's the one in front next to Cierto?

Started my tequila journey with Compoveda. I think it's AF but not 100% certain. Their XA finished in wine barrels is a great after dinner relaxer. Wife loves their Blanco mixed with Fresca and a lime, it's our summer time float in the pool drink.

Really enjoying Ocho. Costco seems to carry it every once in a while, the Plata and Repo. I've got the Old Fitz. tasty. Have a couple bottles of different single barrel Anejo's that I haven't cracked yet, plus a single barrel Repo. If I get an urge I'll snap a pic of my bottles, won't be anywhere close to yours!

I enjoy El Tequileno also, also a few others I'm exploring.

Started my G4 journey with some Blanco, enjoying it very much so will need to find some Madera. Thanks for the tip!

Correct. The widow jane anjeo is the black label and the cream is the repasado. I was lucky enough to buy 2 each when they released. To say they are amazing would be an understatement. Sorry to add to FOMO but those 2 were actually worth it. They are akin to fortaleza. They just arent worth secondary $ though.

I drink alot of blano and repo in the summer in squirt zero in my pool as well.

El tequileno is good and I have their still strength and rare reposado. I like them but they are a bit overpriced. I find their regular stuff to be lacking behind G4, ocho and wild common. If you havent tried wild common that should be on the list as well. I have been pleased with their repo and still strength blanco.

Love this thread, and love bourbon but want to temporarily hijack the thread.

I’m a bourbon enthusiast and love the hunt to add bottles to my collection. I have a pretty robust collection, maybe moderate compared to some. If I purchase it, it’s always to drink, and not to flip, albeit some aren’t cracked and are only saved for special occasions.

Having said that, I’ve always been one to purchase to drink and against all flippers. However, my mindset has slightly shifted. I have some great high dollar bottles unopened and am contemplating flipping them. I have plenty of opened bottles, high dollar opened bottles, and still plan to hunt for others to add to the collection. If I were to sell off a portion of my high dollar bottles, it would generate a pretty decent some of money. If I do that, I plan to use the funds towards a sheep hunt, specifically dall, which is my dream hunt and would make that hefty price tag much easier to stomach.

So my question to you guys is: should I keep my collection in tact and enjoy, or sell off a portion and go sheep hunting? What say the Rokslide/bourbon side of the Rokslide universe?

If I was in your shoes I’d sell what you can and enjoy a once in a lifetime hunt (For most).

You can always buy more Bourbon.

I would sell the hell out of that and go hunting!

Maybe my palate is not refined enough but I’ve pretty much got all the bottles of fancy stuff I’m going to have. I can drink WT Rare Breeds and Old Forester 1910 and 1920 to eternity and whatever pops up at Costco and be happy. I’ll jump into action when Reburn or a couple of my very high volume high dollar collector friends throw me a bone on something to grab.

Every bottle I have will be drank and when I share some with a good friend I have them sign and date the bottle. When the special bottles are drained they get saved on top of the bar cabinets as momentos.
