Absolutely! Perhaps more so than for any other animal. Javelina are incredibly hard to spot. They blend in perfectly and are often rooting around up under overhanging brush that is gray in color, and in the shadows.
We have millennium tripods, so they are pretty light and very easy to move. We have shot javelina and pigs out of them. This is in Texas we’re we corn senderos, once you have a spot that they frequenting, we place the tripods down wind . I am not very patient and hang out in one for periods of time, and if I see others off in the distance I will get down and stalk them. But being up there helps you see down into the brush a little better also. If your patient and play the wind, and have corn they will come. Buddy loves his because he’s out of the way of snakes, and javelina coming right at you after you shoot. We have had some exciting moments on the ground. So yea we always take them, but kill more from the ground, but myself and sons are not very patient, and they still work. I say take it, especially if you are used to sitting in a stand, we are not. We normally spot and stalk every thing. I love bow hunting them things, it a kick. Now if I was using a fire arm I would not bother with a tripod, or stand of any kind, they are just to easy with a gun .
I wouldn’t post this in varmint, predator. They are considered game animals I believe every where except Mexico. Glad I seen the post, we are headed down after them in feb. or March ourselves.
