Just found this boot on sale here in Canada for $129.99. At that price I called there customer information toll free number and ordered a pair

Here is the link

At that price you can't go wrong! Amazing timing. For you Americans the deal is even sweeter considering that the CAD is at a 10 year low compared to the USD. (I.e. your money is worth more than ours)

Glad I'm not the only one. I was thinking the material is too slick causing them to come untied. I'll stick with lacing them tight and double knotting them. Thanks again.

I had the same problem with my Fugitives. If you're tying the standard double overhand knot to secure them, I recommend taking a look at the link. It's just as, if not more secure and doesn't get tangled when you untie them. Been using this method for the last few years and won't go to anything else.

Thanks, I'll have to give that a try. I just got back from Vegas where I wore these boots to walk around in on the strip. The first day I used some old blue super feet insoles but that didn't do much and my feet still hurt. I switched back to the factory original insoles the next day and my feet were fine. We walked from the Luxor to Treasure Island and back and I was pretty comfortable. Great boot for walking around on concrete all day but I think I'll have to get some new superfeet for hiking with a pack.

Was able to take advantage of a good deal by Cabelas over Christmas. If it were not for this article I would never had thought of looking at these Salomon's. Been wearing a few days now and they feel great. Looking forward to really putting these through some tough terrain.

Used mine on 2 idaho back country elk hunts, wyoming elk hunt and a AZ Coues hunt.
They are also my day to day winter boot.

I like them so much I wore them all 3 days at the ATA.

No leaks, not 1 blister and very comfortable.

Same here picked up a set at an incredible price and have been training with them for the last 2 weeks. Threw in some aftermarket insoles and after about 50 miles on the road and eliptical machine they feel great. Thanks for the heads up on these Brock, would have never looked them up if it wasn't for your review, I plan on using them for a spring bear hunt.

Thanks for the review. After reading the review and trying them on I decide to get a pair. I think they will work great for the Elk hunting I do in Wyoming and Montana and just general all around use.

I was wondering what is suggested for cleaning and general care of these boots?

Great write up. I just bought these a few weeks ago and absolutely love them. Used them for the last 2 weeks of whitetail season here in Texas. With that said, during this time I've only had the stock footbeds and actually liked them a lot. They felt a little hard, and really had no give I'm them at all. I just talked with Stephen L and ordered a set of his footbeds and cut them tonfit my boot. Initial feeling was defomately better then the stock pair, but after two days my right foot where the winds are, on the inside is hurting and just feels off. I pulled out to see if anything was wrong, or if my smart wool sock binded up at all and nothing. So not sure what's up. Gonna try different sock tomarrow and of still an issue,I'll gibe Stephen a call for his advice. He defimately knows his stuff about feet. Burns on farm this bbl on rocks

I use my pair of Solomon's primarily as a work out shoe. Great ankle support, similar to athletic shoe construction. Light hiking in them for me otherwise. If I'm going to put a pack on my back I've got other heavier boots that I'm going to choose before this boot, however It can do some light backpacking. Maybe for some lighter weight hunters it'll do more than it will for me. I do like this boot though. Pretty comfortable and surprisingly good ankle support.

Im looking at a different boots myself and have tried the Salomon's on in the store fit is good no slamming of toes but thats on their small rock for testing. Which boot do you consider for heavy loads? The whole idea is go in light and come out heavy.

You probably asked the wrong person because I've got WAY too many pairs of boots. Currently my favorites are between Salewa Ravens and Hanwag Tibets. Both light mountaineering boots with a stiff shank. Both work great with heavy loads. I would also consider taking my Hanwag Ancashs as they are a fairly heavy duty boot.

I'd say from a general consensus on this board, the most commonly chosen boot would be Lowa Tibets which I think are a great choice, unfortunately they just don't fit my feet. Good options in that boot as they have GTX models and LL and I think widths as well.

Hope that helps a little.

For reference on insoles making a difference. Clearly, much more support in the aftermarket insole.

Here is the factory insole out of a Salomon

And here is the SuperFeet...

Great review Brock, very much appreciate the very detailed insight. Made a multiple store run to try on several different brands of boots yesterday and found these to be the most comfortable and currently leaning to them as a replacement option for my recently deceased hunting boots.....I was curious if you have tried any other insert, The Lathrop and Sons Synergy system, in this boot....When you originally authored this piece , per the information above, you were using the SuperFeet Green, but you also wrote a very nice review of the Synergy system and I was wondering if there was a chance for a possible duel review followup.

Thanks in advance.
