Boot fit pros.

I stopped and retied them half way through. Made them tight. Laced them nice and tight which I really haven’t done. ( excuse my dumbness I am new to hiking and boots ). They felt even better after that. Wasn’t sure how tight I should be. That took away the heel lift completely.

I wanna say there was still slighttt toe touch. But nothing that bothered me. I feel the half size bigger might be to big and just cause more movement in boot??

maybe I will keep using these for now. Keep putting some miles on them, keep breaking them in for now. If they cause any issues down the line go up half a size.

Although I do have crispi thors Getting delivered Friday in the same size haha. We will see how those fit

Even if toes are barely touching when on downhills this could be an issue on a pack out if you have to make a couple trips. Feet start to swell and the suffer fest begins.

Here’s how the marines fit boots.

I know you don’t want to send them back but hearing words like toes touching and heel lift aren’t good. Crispis are hot on the scene right now. Deal is people still get blisters from them just like any other boot that doesn’t fit their foot right and can ruin hunts.

To really get a good idea of how to fit a boot right you need a fail. At that point you know exactly what to look for, even the slightest rubbing and touching in your problem areas you know equals bad.

You have no other stores in your area to compare?

I totally understand what your saying. Just feel like a bigger boot would just cause my foot to slide foward even more cause it’s bigger??

As my boots break in to my foot, lacing seems to help secure me from sliding more than when they are new and stiff. If you’re smashing your toes in the toe box I would be concerned. If it’s just a little movement I would break them in more and lock the laces lower on the boot to be more secure.

They don’t fit, you have no heel lock. Not all boots work. You can live with it, but boots that actually work are great.

I spoke with crispi directly today and they told me the same thing. They don’t advise sizing up. They said as your boot breaks in the issue will resolve itself.

Everything about what you've posted makes it sound like the boot doesnt fit your foot. Heel pocket is too loose. Not alot will solve that.

Sizing up will make one problem better and others worse.

You shouldnt feel your toe touch, especially without a loaded pack, this will only make it worse. Breaking in a boot wont cure the toes touching.... unless you're going to hike downhill so often that your planning on punching the toe box out with your big toe.

If you are hesitant to return them now. You'll be pissed in 50 miles when you have blistered feet and you cant return them at all... oh ya, and jamming your toe into the toe box is a good way to lose a nail.

According to all the manufactures fit guides they do fit right. Fingers width between heel and back of boot, heel lift less then 1/4 of inch when walking , no hot spots .
The only issue Is foot sliding foward a bit on some downhills, which crispi states as boot breaks in this will resolve. They also stated a insole could help resolve it to as a generic insolve that comes with the boot isn’t perfect for everyone.

I am going to ride it out and break them in and see what happens. It’s documented with crispi.

if in 6 months they cause issues or pain. I’ll buy a bigger size. Like said above I think a bigger size could create more problem. I’ll see what happens as they break in

You could also consider returning them and trying Asolo, Lowa, Scarpa or other alpine brands at REI. Crispi’s are great but each of the Euro mountaineering brands have their own “shape” and Crispi just not not be your fit.

Heel pocket is too big for your foot on those Nevadas. I bet you notice a difference in fit with the Thors. No way I'd keep a boot that I was getting toe bang in with no pack weight on my back. Boots are the hardest thing to get right, and many of us have been through multiple brands and styles of boots to get the ones that fit our feet. I'd love to have the money back that I've spent on boots.

what’s the answer because going up a half size to avoid the toe bang would make the heel pocket bigger no?

Depends on the boot. Getting a bigger size doesn't make the heel pocket bigger. The last that the boot was made on determines that. You just need to find a boot that has a more locked in heel pocket. The heel pocket won't change by sizes, only the length of the boot. That's why it is almost impossible to get it right buying boots over the web.

ok so all I might need to do is go up half a size to correct this issue

Different brands use a different last when building their boots, so each boot will fit a little different depending on the brand. Crispi fits my feet perfectly, Kenetrek no bueno for me.

so do you think it’s not worth trying the 1/2 size bigger? Or give Them a shot?

If your toe is touching I would definitely try a half size larger. You can always send them back if the larger size doesn’t work. Find a flight of stairs and go up and down a few times and if they slip or your toe hits the front no bueno.
