So my new crispi Nevada’s came today. My first impression when I slide them on was wow these are comfortable.

I put on my thickest wool sock as I may wear these in the winter from time to time . I laced them up and started walking. A few things I noticed . Down hill I can feel my toes touching the front. I wear a 9.5 in ever shoe and heard these were true to size . I can get a finger behind my heel if I push my foot all the way foward. Also if I pull the insole out I have a thumbs Width between the tip of my big toe and the end of the insert . So maybe this is a lacing issue? I am not to familiar with proper lacing technique.

also the width does feel snug, not painful by any means but snug. This is normal correct?

also I assume there is a break in period. Right? Just tough not having any boot stores out where I am.

thank you guys as always!

I always buy boots 1/2 to 1 size large. That way I can add thicker, padded insoles. In the summer I use light socks and cinch down the laces. I wear slightly thicker socks in winter and let out the laces so there is more room. I NEVER wear super thick socks even in the middle of winter in Colo and Wyo unless I'm sitting in one place for hours and hours. I wear completely different higher boots in winter that are taller for snow (Lowa Tibets or sorels) depending upon how active I'll be.

If your toes are tight or touching the front that is not a good sign. My preference is room for toes and change tightness of lacing depending upon the terrain. For super steep stuff you don't want any slippage in the heal/ankle area. When hiking flat country you can get away with less tight laces.

That’s what I was thinking I probably shouldn’t even be wearing thick socks with these . Leave the cold month up to my winter boots instead.

everything I read said order crispi true to size.

my toes do not touch the front of the boot. Only on a downhill incline. Otherwise they don’t touch.

I have a pair of Crispi Nevada. I ended up with a half size larger than I wear in other boots or shoes. I have found my way of lacing them that work for my feet. I’m not sure, but I think REI may have lacing techniques video(s). Or google it for different lacing technique. As for comfort right out of the box, no break in really. Certainly know where near what my old Kenetreks required. The Nevada’s are great comfort... oh, I wear merino wool liner socks only in my boots...super thin.

You need a bigger size dude. If youre trying different lacing techniques to get a boot to work they don’t fit.

Is the toe area snug in the width? It shouldnt be. The rest of the boot should be somewhat snug on the sides. You don’t want to be sliding around inside the boot while side hilling.

Toe area is not snug in the width

Then I think you’ll be fine in width.

Typically a good fitting boot is a little over 1/2” bigger on the inside than your bare foot. Use a string to measure inside of the boot. Measure string. Measure foot. Half sizes in Boots run about a 1/4” difference.

If your feet are sliding forward on a downhill, they might not fit your foot. Proper fit locks the heel in.

Here’s my foot standing on the insole

Be aware that your heel doesn’t line up exactly with the back of the insole. It sits a bit forward of it when inside the boot, 1/4”-1/2” depending.

Ugh I am just paranoid sending them back for a 1/2 size bigger they feel to big. Sucks not having them side by side in the store to compare.

have you hiked in them yet? A few miles would probably tell you everything you need to know.

no and I totally agree with you. Butttt they most likely won’t exchange them if they are hiked in. Maybe just suck it up and do some hiking. If I need to scratch some pennies together and get the tens then sell these if they are an issue.

Order the size above on credit if you can. Keep the ones you got, compare, return either to store. Most give you 30 days.

I actually do a 2 mile hike in hilly terrain with both when I compare. Be aware don’t scuff them, dig the dirt out the lugs, clean them up with water good. I’ve never had a problem with returning to any store ever with this.

Ok I am going to do a few miles in them in the morning . Nothing else I can do. If I have to down the line I’ll get a 1/2 size bigger. But hopefully not

I think they will likely work however, I think you are better off going up a half size. I have several boots that fit similar and they work fine but I wish they were bigger constantly. My problem is I wear size 14 and alot of companies don't make 15's and a whole size is a big jump, If I could do 14.5 I would instantly.

Ok two miles in, no pain what so ever. They feel great.

although on some down hill my foot is sliding foward and my toes touching the front of the boot. You think this is a tie issue? Or I should go up half size. It is not bothering me
