Hey everyone,
So I just got home 2 days ago from my LDS mission in Ecuador... And about 4 days ago my dad told me that I ended up drawing the Book Cliffs roadless area for archery elk...

Since I just got home, I haven't had time to go scouting. I'm planning on heading up there the first day of the season or a few days before to get familiar with the area, but i have heard that this is a 350+ bull area...

Anyone had any experience with this area that you would be willing to share. Just looking for an idea of where to start so Im not going in there blind...
Thanks!

That's a great tag since you'll have plenty of free time( just home). Water early and hope cool weather sets in and kick starts the rut. Some big bulls there but doubt you'll see multiple bulls in the 350 range. Its tough area to hunt with out knowledge plus side is limit tags and limited access so less total people to contend with.

Treat it for what it is oil tag and commit that amount of time to it.I would hold out only for a bull that makes you happy if that's 350+ than they are in there but you also have to be prepared for tag soup. It truely beautiful elk country

Must have served faithful to pull such an awesome tag upon returning! Most guys get a cute gal but you really scored! Hope the hunt goes well.
