For those of you who go sans InReach/zolio etc, or are dumping it and are switching to Starlink direct to cell/iphone sat texting.
There is a new service called BoltWX (I am not affiliated in any way), that does text-message based weather forecasts. I used it all last fall via iPhone sat texting and it worked great!
All you have to do is text their phone number with your access code, your current coordinates (copy/paste from OnX), and the weather forecast model you want. And it replies instantly with a weather forecast.
The forecast data is a bit cryptic, but they have a legend on the website to decode it... It looks like this:
(this is just a 1 day forecast, they have a few different options.. 1-day, 3-day, 5 day etc)
HRRR 11739ft
We7a 37*SW11|Clr
We9a 43*SW8|Clr
We11a 48*W10|Clr
We1p 53*W12|Clr
We3p 54*W10|Clr
We5p 51*W11|Clr
We7p 46*W9|Clr

the first line translates to: Wed at 7am - 37*F Southwest wind 11mph, Clear skies

It was free all last summer, but unfortunately they are moving to a paid sub.. $5 month for the Pro sub. But you can still do a free account, which gives you 3-day forecasts and 5 forecast messages per day,,, which is pretty good and should work for most people. (or you could buy a month or 2 for hunting season)
Im not sure which forecast the free version gets you,, but the HRRR model is essentially the same as the NOAA weather.gov pinpoint forecast which gives you the forecast at YOUR elevation and not the nearest town in the valley.. I have found that one very accurate.
