I thought this SAGA deserved a little more attention. Looks like this buck was very famous to the locals. Someone ended up harvesting this buck during the rifle season.

Does anyone have any hard horned photos of this buck on the hoof?

Here are the pictures posted online.

I’d have shot him

1000% I think we all would have! The strange thing is that the hunter that posted it pulled his photos and wouldn't provide any pics of the buck laying on the ground. Seems to be some potential foul play going on.

Maybe or perhaps he didn't need every hunter of the internet making accusations.
If you have evidence of foul play report it othwise I personally wouldn't want to be making unfounded accusations.

I think if you kill a buck of that caliber that everyone knows about you would expect some accusations.

We had a situation here in Virginia where someone illegally killed a locally-famous whitetail in a Richmond park, then tried to claim he shot it in the wild a few counties over.

I believe a rokslider killed it and entered it into the mule deer photo contest, but I see no trace of it anymore in the thread.

So that is your justification to make them? You really could be right but its kinda messed up to do with no reason.
No justification just observation? When you kill a famous buck and post it online, yeah people are going to speculate. Doesn't mean its justified, just whats expected.

and remove the pictures once someone post pictures of the buck laying in someone's yard.

Maybe. I'd have a hard time killing a deer that is so accustomed to humans that it lays in people's yards. I live in a subdivision outside of city limits, and a few years ago we had a buck in our neighborhood that was in the mid 190's. He'd bed up against my house in the shade and watch me shoot my bow. I live on 7 acres and it would have been perfectly legal for me to shoot him, but the thought never even crossed my mind. He moved into town later that fall during the rut and a high school kid shot him with his bow.

I'm not judging the hunter and I know nothing of the story. It's possible the buck left town and the hunter that ran across him didn't even know he was a town buck.

I was waiting for a thread like this to pop up. I’d bet there’s more to this that will unfold in the coming months. I’d disagree that there’s any jealousy involved, just most rational people with half a brain can sense when something is off.

He removed the Pic. It could be fishy or it could be he found out the buck has fans and he figured guys like these would come after him. It has some real witch hunt vibes.
Starting internet gossip and slandering people is childish high school crap. If you suspect fowl play with no reason grow up. If you have reason for your suspensions then please report it.

I’d remove the pics too. I honestly would have never shared them with anyone other than the closest tight lipped hunting buddies.

People make emotional attachments to town bucks and the outrage would be huge.

If he didn't want speculation, don't post pictures. The speculation is why you post some kill sight pictures, to squash any untrue speculation.
