Boiling Water

The x mug is really cool AND it fits tightly over the top of your jet boil so if you want to über geek over fractions of ounces you can leave the stock lid at home.

I have been running the GSI Minimalist for the past 3-4 years - other than breaking the foon/spork thingy its been great. I really like the small size for packing and I can fit my entire cook kit including a full fuel cell, Snowpeak Giga stove and a the small GSI spice container inside - all for just under 1lb with a fuel. I even managed to pan fry some beer battered trout in it last summer.

I have thought about upgrading and actually bought the Olicamp XTS - it does boil faster but is just too big for my needs. If they came out with a .6L XTS I would probably have to make the switch.

If you want I can take a picture of the whole kit and post it up tonight.

thats the kind of thing i wanted to hear!! I'm not to worried about pics haha but how many cups is .6L? Can it hold enough water for cooking a MTN house?

.6L = @2.5 cups so it holds enough for 1 Mtn House. I will say this is the perfect solo pot/cup - if you will always go with a partner and plan to share a stove I would go with the Olicamp XTS.

I already took some pictures so here you go anyways

A little tip - the yellow/orange cloth is a chunk of sham-wow that I put in the bottom to keep everything tight and quiet. It also helps dry up any moisture left over from the pot or fuel can - one time I did not have it in there and it caused a bit of surface rust but it came right off.

Its actually just over a pound with everything you see in the picture except the spork - I knew it was close...

I'm a really big eater so I usually do the bigger MTN house bags for dinner. I think they take 4 cups of water... Might go with the oilcamp one. I def dont wanna starve up there!!!!! But its all still in the air. Ive got time!

Wow the big 2 pouch bags? Your a beast!

Those are the ones I was thinking of the "family size" for some reason I thought they came in two separate pouches? Guess not looking at them. Anyway those are huge!

I just got this one in as well, I have not boiled with it yet but I really like it, with that said it will nest everything but the actual pocket rocket for me, I really like it.

The Oliecamp pot works well. I wanted a smaller version so I had a company cut it down in size. It was not as efficient in its cut down form.....I have no clue why, but assume it follows the same principle as the MSR Reactor.

So is the minimalist big enough for a 2.5 serving MTN house?? And backpack who cut it down for you? The company itself??

I think the brand i used last year called for 4. But dont quote me on that! But good to know! I think ill make that plunge.

I only eat Mtn house but all of the ones I have had were 16oz (2 cups) of water except for the propacks, veggies and few others were less.

Amp, not sure if you have been to recreation outlet in SLC but they have a lot of good deals. I think I picked up my minimalist for under $20. But if you haven't been there it's one of my favorite places to get gear. It's like a small rei
