Not if you live in an area with some of the best fishing and the bear moose hunting in the world but most of it requires special vehicles for access. Boats sure are nice when you can rip them every day.
 
Like most have said in this market that boat will sell at that price. As a 2 boat owner, in my opinion its priced just about right, maybe a little high but remember that’s just an asking price! Good used boats are hard to come by in many states right now! Tracker boats aren’t the highest quality but they are better made than what they used to. 394 is nothing on an engine, usually lots of idling hours! It also comes with a decent decent graph so that’s a plus! Good luck

Used prices have gone nuts with the squeeze in the supply chain. Makes buying new more appealing if you can find it. A sea ark with a jet is just nicer too, so more $$. Trackers are cheap cause they slap em together with very little QC. I looked at some boats priced at $50k in a basspro and couldnt believe the welds and craftsmanship. Poor as poor could be.

That new boat for $16k, $8k or half, is the motor. Build cost is maybe $2k for the manufacturer. Rest is profit. Its amazing. Exactly why I bought an old AL boat, fixed it up, and will just put a new motor on one day. Its all about the motor…
 
I've got a 2008 60hp 4 cyl. Merc on my Lund 16.5' and it's been a fabulous engine.
Replaced a coil that went bad in '16, but the motor still ran fine and got me off the water.
Probably 650-700 hours, most idling and trolling.

Recenty purchased a new '22 17' Alumacraft with a 90hp Suzuki, but looking back that Lund/Merc doesn't owe me a dime. And I believe the lower unit was built by Yamaha.

Going to price the Lund for the current market, I mean, why not? Stuff is impossible to find right now and most of it has been used hard.

What is impossible to find? I mad a single phone call and was able to find exactly what I wanted.

A sincere question as I have no boating experience. I hope to take it out on Lake Texoma in the future. How much of a difference would it make have the 40hp of the new one compared to the 60hp on the one I am looking at. I am planning on it being me and my 2 teenage boys with me. I have read that underpowered is a bad thing.
 
You’re looking at a 17’ boat so consider its size/weight. Add in you and 2 growing boys, a 40hp is going to be a bit slow. A 60hp will only be slightly faster though. Top speed probably about the same once shes out of the hole, but thats limited by the hull shape. Hole shot will be the biggest difference.

So its a roughly 15% power loss, but being a newer motor, probably even less. Also note that the new tracker has a max hp rating of 50hp, and dealer states 30-35 mph. My deep-V starcraft only goes 30-35mph with an old 2 stroke 75hp (60hp modern 4-stroke equivalent).

I would argue all day to go for the new boat with a new, 0 hour motor under full warranty, interior and hull in new condition, full hull warranty, and new trailer. For the few thousand more, you are getting a lot.

I agree with this. A decade newer boat for a few grand more. And there's not a scratch on it, there's no risk of a soggy floor. The used one, despite reasonable hours, looks well used.

If the money isn't a problem I'd probably spring for the new one too given the marginal price difference for what you're getting.
 
Keep in mind, you are toward the end of off boating season. As the weather and fishing get better, the more desirable that boat will be. Remember, a boat is a money pit. Go look at it and find everything wrong with it you can without offending the owner. Offer $9500-$10k. The only thing they can do is say no? Also, how long has it been on the market?

I just bought a new '22 boat out of Minnesota. Couldn't find anything near me in Idaho, especially at my price point. Try even finding a minn kota motor reasonably priced, everything is gouge city.

To be fair I’m in the market for a brand new boat, full set up, trailer and all. I talked to a few places that have everything a guy could want but they won’t sell boat hulls or motors separately, they ar keeping them to sell as complete packages. Good for me I guess although prices seem to be quite a bit higher than they were a few years ago.
 
I sold my '08 Lund today for $200 more than I purchased it for in 2010.
And I removed about everything I needed to outfit my new '22, Minn Kota, custom cover, etc.
I figured, it fits the new boat, so why buy it all again and with an additional 20% inflation markup?

Amazing how everything is selling in this market. Crazy times we live in.
 
I’m not sure where you are but that seems like a fair price where I’m at.
