I had a pair of their synthetic material boots and they leaked right away. Replacement did the exact same. I've never seen boots that got my feet wet like that. Ended up with a pair of their all leather boots. They have been a lot better. They're priority is to sell you as much stuff as possible. Best option for "waterproof" boots is all leather and wax them.

A couple weeks ago Jay Nichol on his mindful hunter podcast shared his experience with L&S, left an honest review and they threatened to sue him. I ordered the custom boot system but haven't mailed it back and don't think I will. After doing more research a lot of people have had questionable experiences with L&S.

Exactly how I feel. I still wear the boots when it's dry and they work well, but I will never buy from a dishonest company. I consider what they did as nothing but dishonesty. In the podcast he said that he doesn't expect a product to have 100% good reviews and this is true for me also. I do expect that companies deal with negative reviews and product issues honestly. Thanks for sharing the podcast.

I have some 10 year old Asolo 520s, still waterproof, the soles are finally coming apart from the boot, if I hadn't switched to barefoot type shoes and boots I would resole them, but I will just glue them and use them for really wet conditions occasionally.

I have read about some gore tex liners having multiple layers or something along those lines and holding up well.

3 or 4 pair of Asolo boots I have had all stayed waterproof for years, their lighter hikers are generally worn out about the same time the waterproofing fails.
