Dang. Had never heard of this brand before. Looks great. I’ll go check some more out!
There’s quite a bit of discussion about it, the how and why of the shape. A fellow Rokslider made me one in trade. I was a little skeptical, but dang if it didn’t convert me.

I forgot to mention, I had a Winkler a little like that, was a great knife but not much for skinning and such. I sold it, only cause it sat for a couple years.

That’s awesome!

I can’t get over Winkler. I have a Chris Reeve Backpacker and a Carothers I love, but always love checking out smaller bladesmiths. I’ll look for the other threads on it!

I also got the Canadian belt knife idea this year. Read an article years ago about this style and it always stuck with me. Managed to get ahold of a MKC Jackstone around new years and love it so far. Currently waiting for that Rokslide mini canadian to drop so I can try it out.

Here's my Ruana Steelhead 3 1/2" blade. I love this knife. Nice size and shape for just about any task.

And my Ruana 5AD with a 4" blade. Love this one also. It just works great on everything and holds an edge. I used Birchwood Casey Perma Blue on the blades to try out to see how they do just protecting the blades a bit. So far I'm happy with them and it will be easy enough to remove if I decide I don't like it. It gives the knives kind of a nice look also.

Looking forward to using this new knife this year. Great looking knife and Wilderness Spirit was terrific to work with.

I like this style knife a lot. I’m a mini knife sort of guy, so only use a blade this long in the kitchen.

I don’t like most knives with the blade guards and weird handle shapes.

I do a lot of fishing and other activities in and around the salt, and have destroyed a few knives by neglecting to rinse and oil them after use. I also have always preferred folders because I am much more likely to carry them everyday and actually have them on me. I also find a well designed spine lock to be plenty rigid and safe, and quick to deploy and fold up. I have always like Spyderco knives for their ergos, grippiness, and innovative steels and blade shapes.

I picked up this knife (plain edge of course) a couple years ago and it instantly became my go-to favorite. I even carry it hunting and can take down a deer with it no problem. The sheepsfoot tip also doubles nicely as a flat head screwdriver. Extremely corrosion resistant, plenty of blade length, compact size, 1.9oz, and the LC200N holds an edge well and is relatively easy to sharpen.

Spyderco makes a really great blade. I’m also pretty happy they haven’t started consistently getting nuts with their pricing like other USA large manufacturers *cough* Benchmade.
