So camofire has blackovis game bags on sale right now for $39. Described as large (deer) bags 15x28. Anybody think this is what I need for a mule deer hunt this October?

For sure - they will work perfect. Good company also with great warranty!

I've had the deer ones for 2 years and packed out maybe 4 animals, works good and wash up nice.

I have the elk ones too and had the stitching come apart in a spot on one. They sent me a new one, no questions asked.

The only downside if any is a little heavy and the gloves that come with are not for large hands...

Yes, I bought them last year for same deal and was impressed. Had 2 deer and a pronghorn through them so far, still holding up fine. Haven’t used TAG bags so cannot day how they compare.

i like the tag bags because they are lighter and pack down better. if i was leaving a bag for a friend to pack or coming back myself i'd enjoy the hunters orange and reflective trim of the black ovis bags. honestly i think they are both great bags and i typically go with the best price when suitability is similar.

just fyi, those bags are on every week if not more often. should give you plenty of time. also the camofire guys will usually give you that price if you call them and ask for it. black ovis and camofire are the same owners.
Thanks, that's good info. I've not done any research on games bags yet so maybe I'll hold off. Bed time anyway.

I've used a set for a few years now and they have been great. Fair warning that unless they changed something they have pretty strong smell that takes a long time to go away.

Save yourself a few bucks and get these off Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Allen-Backco...len+game+bags&qid=1561725434&s=gateway&sr=8-3
The 20" x 30" are a good deer sized bag and the 28" x 50" swallow a bone in hind elk quarter without leaving the lower leg exposed. The Allen is only a 4 bag set but for $20 a set one could purchase 2 sets and have a couple extra bags around and still save a few bucks over Ovis sacks. I find the smaller Allen bags big enough that 4 bags work just fine. The Allen do weight a few more ounces then the Ovis bags.

Used the Black Ovis bags on an elk and whitetail last year. I have nothing but great things to say. I’ve heard great things about TAG bags also but haven’t used them. I have dealt with Larry before and he is a good guy so no question in my mind that customer service from TAG would be top notch.

They are bags and hold stuff... that's about all you can ask from any of them.

They seem nice and sturdy but they do reek of formaldehyde out of the package... give 'em a wash before you use them

The "stink" is a common theme I've read. Is this an issue with all bags or just these (blackovis) bags?

I've had them 3-4 years, I really like them.
Used quite a bit.
Last year packed 2 different bull elk and 2 different mountain goats with mine.
I hose them off then throw them in the wash machine. Come out pretty clean every time.

I bought a set of elk bags and deer bags from BO back in 2016. The elk bags haven't been used but I have packed out about 6-8 deer with the deer bags. They do fine. Just wash after each use. Never noticed any smell from mine.

I have a couple other brands and it's just the BO one in my case. I've used and washed mine a half dozen times or so and if I pull one out of a kill kit right now it will still have a smell. It's very much mild compared to when they were new.
As I need any moving forward it will be TAG bags. Larry has put so much free info out there that I'd like to repay him with my business.
