I’ll be loading my muzzleloader with Blackhorn 209 on November 22. Season lasts until December 23. Can I leave it loaded with powder the whole time? If not do you guys try to save the unused powder or toss it? What about charging tubes? Can I leave them charged for a month? Thanks

I just keep it in my gun. I try to avoid sudden temperature excursions to avoid condensation.

I have never had any problems. But I am also not an expert.

I’ve left Blackhorn loaded for a year without issues. Just make sure you mark the gun somehow so you know it’s loaded and don’t accidentally double load.

I have loaded, but deprimed and left in pickup for the season. If get big temp swings or a really damp day will shoot it, clean and reload. I try to avoid getting the gun cold and then bring into house to make it sweat.

Same with charging tubes. At end of the season I’ll dump those into an empty bh209 bottle and use the following summer for sight in/practice.

Yeah, it’s a few $$ but hate to whiff on a buck

I bought a water tight plano box that I keep my MZ supplies in with some desiccant packs. Seems to work for me.
