Anyone have any experience with the Black Ovis Taiga glomitts? Are they functional for hunting and glassing or do you have to take them off to shoot or adjust the focus knob on a spotter? Are liners necessary to keep hands warm when driving an atv or utv in frigid temps?

I was moderately tempted to pick up the Kuiu North Star glomits but they’re on the spendy side. They have significantly more insulation than the Black Ovis. Buy once, cry once? Or are the Black Ovis Glomitts good enough? Thanks.

I used them this season. They are warm but I can wear light merino liners under them. I've hunting and skied with them sub zero. They have significantly better dexterity compared to a mitten. I can't compare them to the Kuiu as I haven't used them. My verdict is still out but so far they seem great for the money.

At $55, I don't put them in the buy once cry once consideration. It's not optics or packs.. worst case situation you have a backup in your truck. If you are going to cry over $55 then you probably shouldn't even be considering the Kuiu at 2x the cost :)

Sorry, I wasn’t clear on my communication! I was referring to spending $139 on the Kuiu Northstar glomitts over the Black Ovis glomitts for the buy once, cry once. I’ve got some clothing I’ve spent a few bucks on that has lasted over a decade vs being replaced semi annually because it wore out or sucked. I figure the Kuiu would fall into the long term purchase but the jury is in session for the Taiga’s. It’d be nice to save $85 and put that towards other gear, but I’m willing to spend money for good gear that works. I appreciate your feedback and experience with the Taiga mitts.

Were you able to shoot a rifle with the Taiga gloves on?

The reason I was asking about being able to get the trigger finger in the trigger guard with the gloves on is I like to predator hunt and sometimes on a long set the fingers get cold and I’m trying to minimize movement by being able to fire with the glomitts on. My gloves I have now are great as long as I’m moving, but my fingers get chilled on long sets. Thanks again.

I work at blackovis. if you want to try them out give me a call and i can get you a deal on them.

Idk about their gloves, but I love their (blackovis) merino shirts. They seem a little tougher and def easier on the wallet
