Has anyone else had issues with the slider getting sticky and not working worth a crap on black and gold sights? I sent it back once and it came back good. Now it’s really hard to dial right in the middle of the dial range. Anyone have any fix’s ? I tried lube, blowing it out with air. This close to season I’ll pack channel locks to dial my sight before I send it in.

I had a similar issue. I honestly didn’t notice last hunting season then got a spot hogg and noticed while messing with my black gold it seemed super tight. Not sure if it was slow and I didn’t notice til going to a better one or not. That’s probably your best fix lol

I will say that I did send it in and it was back quickly they have been great to deal with. But yeah one that functions properly would be ideal

That is good! I should send mine in one day so that I have a good one if I want to sell it. I really like the sight but the step up to the spot hogg was impressive. I don’t even remember which slider it is that I have. I switched to the spot Hogg Boonie only because I got a good deal

Thanks for the advise. I’ve just shot these for so long change comes difficult lol. I may need to start shopping for something different to put on next year.
I don’t see anything plastic it’s all aluminum that I can see without tearing it apart

There is a tension screw on the side of the slider, it's on the wheel side I believe. I think you can adjust the tension of the slide this way. I don't believe black gold advises this though. I think it could create problems if it's too loose. I had this issue on my BG too (spoiler, I sold it).

They are great sights for sure. I like my spot Hogg better but would not pay full price for one over some of the cheaper but not super cheap black golds

Did you sell it to me? Hahahahaha is there a way to change feedback from three years ago? lol. All jokes. Yeah I think it will be going back to the factory and then back to the classifieds.

hmmm.. I'll have to look into this. I don't even use the lock on my slider because its still enough to hold its place. I wouldn't mind it being a little more loose.

hahahah:) No I sold it like 3 weeks ago! The one I bought, back when it was called Montana Black Gold, didn't have problems and I used it like for 7 years or more. Sold it to try to something else, regretted it and the stuff I tried I didn't like and then bought BG again after they rebranded as "Black Gold". It was this last one where I noticed the slider part felt a little grabby in the middle, but it took awhile for that to show up. I never cared and didn't think much about it, cuz it still worked no problem. When I first got it though, it was pretty stiff to slide, that's how I found out about the tension screw. I ended up having a different issue with it and sent it back to black gold cuz their warranty is on point. Black gold replaced a couple things, I somehow managed to bend the windage bar and had a 1st axis screw issue. But when I got it back, I think they ended up replacing the delrin slider portion as well because it felt smoother to adjust. I would have liked to keep it as my back up because it's a fantastic sight, but it was worth more to me to sell and I have another (redline) sight as a back up. I would buy BG again. I sold it to try a different brand cuz I tinker a lot. I may end up coming back to BG because like before, BG makes good stuff and their pins are the best on the market for my eyes.

I love black gold sliders but I have had to send back 3 sliders over the years back to them for repair the last one stripped out at a 3-d shoot on day one target 8 after I payed for 2 days. I was not happy. I wish they would start to innovate again. They let the competition keep evolving while nothing since the dual trac. And no one can compete with 2 adjustable pins. Clean ups the trac make a better wheel and be the 1st to market with 3 independent adjustable vertical pins. I did just get a 3-d printed wheel that fits snug over the factory wheel wow what an instant improvement. Just having more leverage on the dial. Made it smoother if that made sense so simple that there R and D should have been ahead of it but I fear the conglomerate that owns bowtech and tight spot just wants black gold to package deal there offerings.

I used to shoot MBG sights and think there’s essentially nothing wrong with them, but recently I’ve seen guys with newer versions of the sights having issues similar to those described in this discussion. I often shoot with a guy who owns a local shop and he’s said that MBG is still a good manufacturer to work with, but they’ve seen a lot more issues with the sights as of late.

Initially, MBG’s pins were brighter than other manufacturers and that was the compelling reason for me to consider them. Now, if you compare a MBG to almost any other on the market at a comparable price point - they almost seem crude. The functionality of the sights isn’t the issue as much as they feel clunky compared to something like an Axcel or HHA.
