Howdy Folks,

I've been using a BG Mountain Lite for a few years and was surprised when I pulled up for a shot and my pin housing was gone. Anyone ever snap theirs off? I don't remember dumping my bow or anything which would have caused this.
I reached out to BG to see what they'll do for me but, their warranty doesn't cover 'lost' equipment. Does this constitute lost or broken?

I guess we'll see. I love the sight so, I hope they back it up.

Looks like maybe a potential defect in the material or maybe over torqued?

Their CS is quite good, I wouldn't sweat it.

it is definitely broken off, look at the cracking on the edge of the dovetail. when guys talk about how spot hogg and HHA are more durable, those tiny dovetails are one of the things they're talking about. also, the dial mechanism itself in comparison to the gears used by other brands.

Definitely looks well used. Maybe over torqued the screw and cracked the rail?
Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever.

This has happened to my black gold once before and 2 other buddies as well. Black gold sights are lightweight. Even though I wasn't happy when it happened to me, I wasn't surprised either. They will send you a new bar to replace the broken one. I keep a spare bar in my bow case incase it happens again after it happened to me.

My brother had this happen to him as well. We were at a 3D shoot 2 weeks prior to him leaving for a CO archery hunt. Thankfully it happened at home and not on the hunt. He went to the local shop, they swapped sights for him and told him they would take care of the warranty process. He ended up being able to finish the back half of the course with us.

I have used mtn lites for several years and have had no issues, but I do realize and understand that they aren’t over built like spot hogg, I have a backup sight and plan on getting another custom from s&s. I am a fan of mbg sights

Reading this thread got me on s&s looking at sights, and as luck would have it, they have a sale going on right now, so I ordered a backcountry inline dual trac😏

I have not had to use their warranty, but have heard nothing but good. In the past 10+ years I have shot mbg mostly, trying a few others but always coming back to mbg, I have had a bunch of them, and they have been as reliable as any for me

All various Black Gold sights use that same windage bar in my experience with the Rush, the Mt Lite and whatever their first slider was called….Ascent I think.

I’ve had one failure since 2007…exactly the same spot as the original poster. Was on the first slider right at the acute root of the dovetail. Weak point in the design. Do not over torque that screw!

The good thing is parts off an old retired Rush fixed it right up. Heads all interchange too, although the sight ring/level bubble are different on my later versions.

And Black Gold was quick to send a new windage bar under warranty.

Don’t be worried in the slightest about their CS. I had a sight I sent in back in December and had it back rebuilt to a like new state in about a week and a half. I was very impressed.

They should take care of you but I had one break too. you pay a price for the weight savings. I never trusted one again

Update: I just got my new parts to repair the sight from BG CS. They didn't have to but, they took care of me and have a customer for life. Thanks for all of the feedback on this, I really appreciate this community.
