Black Friday squirrel hunt, Maryland

Would anyone like to hunt squirrels on Heaters Island with me and my dog on Black Friday? It's a fun hunt. We pretty much walk the perimeter of the island so it's about five miles. You need a boat but it's an easy paddle from the NPS boat launch at Point of Rocks.

I tried to set this up last year but it ended up being just me. I'm tagging the people who expressed interest last time.

@circles thanks for trying to get this organized, I’m going to be heading to pa for rifle that Friday so I’d be out unfortunately. The rest of you should definitely get in on it though

I'm nowhere close to MD but this looks like fun and if I was closer I'd do it.

My dad and I used to canoe a certain river in January to shoot squirrels. Hands down some of the best days we ever spent together and I hope to do it with my own kids someday.

@circles, I’ve been meaning to touch base with you now that the leaves are coming down. We’re hosting TDay this year and I’m 20 min for POR so it should be doable for me!

@Blackie glenwood That's great! sorry for the delayed reply , it's that time of year and I've been out after deer.

Let's plan on meeting at NPS's boat ramp at Point of Rocks after first light. If there's strong wind or heavy rain forecast it's not worth doing but otherwise we are good.

The briars there aren't too bad. You don't need briar pants but I usually wear them. I like to change out of rubber boots into hiking boots on the island.
