My sleep system is nearly set up. All I need now is to purchase a bivy. I am looking at both the Borah and Bristlecone bivies. I think the Bristlecone is better quality but the fully enclosed face area has me a little concerned since I think I would be a little claustrophobic or feel like I am in a body bag.

Does anyone have recommendations for either of these two bivy sacks.

Thanks in advance.

It kind of depends on what you expect your bivy to do. Personally, I want a bivy that I can fully close up to keep out the wind and rain when I am sleeping without a shelter. I did that just this last weekend after hiking into our hunting spot a 1am. I chose to go with a Bugaboo II bivy for this reason. It has the mesh opening over your face, but also has the ability to button it up in worse conditions. What I also like is the eVent material. I can breath easily without feeling like I have less air.

I guess what I am saying is, what do you want a Bivy for? Will you sleep under a shelter 100% of the time? Or is there a chance that your bivy will be used as a shelter by itself?

Thanks for the suggestions. Since I intend to use it as a way to expand mobility, there is a chance to be used as a shelter. Thus, the Bristlecone tends to work better for that option. In fact, I just ordered the Bristlecone.

This forum has been excellent and filled with an immense amount of knowledge and experience. Now, I can't wait to use my tipi and sleep system for late season bowhunting.
