Depends a lot on how you hunt. Day hunting is different then backpack hunting. How much money do you want to spend? Do you want to be able to shoot sitting as well as prone? Will you leave it on the gun or be taking it off as you move around? Are you a buy once cry once kind of person or are you just starting out.

On the lower end, I would look at Harris.
On the higher end I would look at Spartan or Atlas.

And FYI, I would see about removing your email address from your user name (unless you are a site sponsor).

For weight, I usually just use trekking poles. Not ideal, but the easiest way to shave weight off a trip is to drop gear.

That said, ive used the Harris UL bipod with pretty good success over the years. Just ended up taking it off my gun and using my pack or trekking poles if I need a rest.

I have used the Swagger mounted direct to my gun but it became cumbersome trying to getbit in and out of my Eblerstock stock pack. They do offer a lighter version that is less beafy and the weight does not seem like an issue but as far length goes not sure if they are the way to go.

Check out Swagger bipods. They are weird looking, not the lightest thing out there but it’s saved me many times in the field! In my opinion the best bipod out there for mountain hunting. You get a rock solid rest in any situation and in any terrain. I’ll never not have a swagger when I’m hunting. I use the hunter, and have 3 of them...but that can be changed between rifles in about 2 min flat. The hunter is 9” to 29” I think and is unbelievably versatile.

I’ve used the Spartan Javelin for awhile. It’s a great bipod for backpacking. Super light and will help stabilize a rifle to make a longer shot.

I bought a Swagger ended up taking it off my rifle to cumbersome for spot and stalk or still hunting in the steep country of Idaho definitely works great thought when just sitting on a mountain top. Definitely looking for something lighter and less weight. Thanks for heads up.

I’ve used atlas, javelin, and rugged ridge. I like the rugged ridge the best for my hunting rifles. The javelin is tempting because of the weight, but I found that it was not quite as stable and I’d rather carry the little bit extra weight for the added stability (and confidence).

Look at Harris or Spartan or Atlas they provide you a large range of good bipods to choose from.
