hello everyone,

I'm looking for some suggestions for a bipod. I'm looking for something i can switch between my hunting rifle and my .223. currently I'm shooting a Bergara B14 Ridge in 7mm. Id like a bipod that's reasonable lightweight and doesn't break the bank. i have a lot of items in need to upgrade and a bipod isn't at the top of the priority list, but id like something for the mean time.

Right now im looking at the Magpul Bipod. I should add that im looking for a bipod to shoot prone or off a bench. when in the filed im either shooting prone or off a pack.

If i do go with the Magpul whats my best option for mounting it and moving between 2 rifles? I would like to keep my sling mount available for hunting so i dont want to go that route.

any other options i should be looking at?

thanks!

Given cash is tight, any reason not to just shoot off bags at the range and prone? Our go-to field prone is off a Molinator strapped to the back of a hunting backpack.

The magpul bipod is light and inexpensive, but that's about where the advantages end.

I have a Gunwerks bipod which I'm growing to like (not love) because I'm short enough to sit with it. I also have several Harris bipods on my AR-15s because I'm generally not wearing a hunting pack when I'm using them, and I enjoy the fast deployment.

Best,
-J

I always shoot off sandbags at the range. But it gets old toting around 15# of sandbags all the time and it would be nice to have something for hunting rather than shooting off a pack all the time. I'm not afraid to spend some money if that's what it takes, but if i can save some money and put it towards new optics or other misc. items that would be my preference.

I will add i have no interest in a sitting length bipod. unless im in the back county i usually have shooting sticks for sitting shots.

Idk what street price on the magpul is but I’d either go with the MDT oryx or splurge a little for the grnd. I imagine the experience with either of those would be a lot better than the magpul.

For non sitting light-ish cheap-ish stable bipods, the carbon MDT GRNDPOD is hard to beat. If you end up wanting that I'll sell you my lightly used one.

Those two things don't add much overall weight but transform a rifle's stability.
