I have always shot from improvised positions in the field, generally prone over my backpack. I practice using a lightweight front bag on my glassing tripod and with hiking sticks. My wife is primarily an archery hunter and doesn't have as much experience with these tools for rifle shooting so I am thinking about getting her a bipod. I did not realize how crazy the bipod market has gotten since I last looked and am a little overwhelmed trying to narrow it down.
I am here to ask which bipods to start looking at. I want something reasonably light weight. Something that attaches and detaches directly to a picatinny rail without tools. Cost under $300.
I am seeing the atlas v8 which seems to check a few boxes but seems on the heavy side and some people don't like the roller feet in rocky country that we often hunt.
Spartans come up on the lighter side but if I read right the picatinny adapter has to be installed with tools and left on the gun. Were not going to go to a smith and have a low profile mount installed in addition to her existing rail.
I have been and will continue to sift through forum posts but the raw volume of choices and different adapter systems and price points are making it brutal to narrow it down.
Thanks
