Looking for good bipods for mountain hunting. Have always used harris but they are heavy, bulky, and hard to take on and off. What is everyones favorite?
THanks

I only use atlas now, I install a small rail on the rifles I use them with and the thing just clips on.

You’ll get a bunch of recfomendations for the javelin bipods but I think they suck. I hate having the attachment point mounted on the rifle, it catches on things and tears stuff and sometimes even works itself loose. I also find those bipods to be incredibly unstable (although better than rested over a rock or something).

I think it depends on how you are hunting and how far you plan on shooting. For absolute stability when shooting long range the atlas is kinda the benchmark I believe and as long as you have the quick release it is easy to pop on and off the rail, I thought I would do that more often but find myself just leaving the bipod on for the duration of the hunt. That being said I have used the javelin also and I think it is stable enough for most hunting distances and is probably the lightest option.

I plan on switching between the two on the range this coming spring to see how much my groups actually open up with the javelin vs the atlas. I have toyed with it a bit in the past and didn't notice a drastic difference but certainly feel an edge in stability using the atlas. I have shot steel out to 1,000 yds with both and they both got the job done. I would highly recommend the javelin with the spring loaded legs though if you go that direction.

Thanks. The atlas looks a little out of my price range. LIke the idea of the quick magnet release of the javlin
