Hello all,

What is all of your preferred heights for a hunting bipod? I have always shot off my pack for hunting muleys and elk. I have drawn a Coues tag for AZ. Im anticipating a slightly longer shot distance with also a smaller target. I am considering using a bipod but would like to know what height you all prefer.

Thanks

The shorter your bipod is, the more stable you will be. I understand that varying terrain will dictate how high your bipod needs to be but 6-9” should allow you to be the most stable out of the choices listed.

A tall bipod, with 45 degree leg position, takes you from benchrest low to 13”. My tall atlas cal gen 2 is awesome. If you’re going something 90* only I prefer tall in the field. Sucks for the range but even a little grass or vegetatio eats up a few inches.

I have a "6 - 9". If I need higher than I'll use either, first, my backpack or, second, my trekking poles. Though I am going to get a plate to attach to my tripod.

For a standard hunting style stock I prefer 9-13. If a more tactical, heavy fore end stock, 6-9.

I've found the 9-13" non swiveling Harris to be perfect for my needs. If you are in terrain where you may need to kneel or sit and criss cross, obviously the 9-13 wouldn't work.

Just got a rugged ridge 7-10” and kind of think I want to swap it for the 10-14”. I figure with that specific bipod, I’d be able to angle the bipod enough to get low enough for a level, prone shot while still have flexibility at the tall end
