Bino Lens covers on or off in harness?

I have 2 sets of swarovski els I run in marsupial gear harnesses. I keep both front and rear lens covers on in the harness. I am very paranoid about damaging or getting debris on the lenses. However it is a major pain in the ass to remove and reinstall them every time I pull them out to look at something.

So I guess I'm asking if most guys use the covers or not when using a quality chest harness. Looking for input on this.

No covers. I know the feeling of wanting to protect your nice glass. With modern lens coatings though, errant pine needles and debris won’t be doing any harm to your swaro. Also, your glass has the best warranty in the business.

The main reason i went to a fully enclosed bino harness is so i could leave the covers at home. With the s4 they were always filthy when i rode an atv so i had to run with covers. Now with the agc i dont bother....

Now if you are talking riding ATV/UTVs I use a Badlands to protect my binos, Walking I still use my S4, but I also carry it under my jacket because most of the time I have it unzipped.

I struggle with this as well but I’ve found that it is too cumbersome to remove the rear cover with any sense of stealth. Going to try and leave it off this season.

EL Range and AGC pack here as well, and even though it's a PITA, I always keep the lens covers on. I'm just super anal about the lenses on all of my glass.

Meopta Meostar 10x42 and AGC, and yes it's a PITA, but I've been running covers. Obviously I'm in the minority so I may ditch the objective covers first (those are the biggest pain). The eyepiece covers come in handy if glassing in a light drizzle and a person doesn't want to put the whole rig back in the AGC and close the lid every time you take a break, IMO.

I keep my objective lens covers on as well as ocular lens protector on my 10x42 SLC binos. It’s no big deal to take off or put back on for me. I’m running the fhf harness. My binos are over 10 years old and look new

I use the covers when I use my Rick Young harness. I’m not sure what would be the point with the marsupial or similar harness. I don’t even use the bino straps. Would be a major pain.

I also don't like running the covers, I've found that it's much quieter to pull my binos out without the rubber covers.

I run zeiss victory's in a marsupial harness. I have a bino bandit that I will fold and clip over the rear lenses for the hike in in the morning and the hike out at night, otherwise I just keep the harness closed up, no issues so far.
