Tripod tips over, Using the tripod as a single leg setting it up against something rock, tree, ranger then it slides off, need to move quickly stuff in bottom of pack. Just my 2 cents worth. I have never used the outdoorsman it looks like it would work great. I just don't want to take the chance if I break what i'm using I can fix it in the field. And the outdoorsman might be fixable in the field I don't know never had one in my hands.

I think you might want to look at the Outdoorsman tripod also. The medium tripod I use fits over me while I sit and is really VERY hard to tip over. I just move it over when I need to get back up from the seated position. Whether there is a strong enough stud is not your problem. I suspect that the legs might be too short compared to the neck of the tripod and thus the concern you may be having with a tripod tip over. I had this concern with the manfrotto be-free series and learned how much better the Outdoorsmans tripods are. They are designed by hunters.
