Bino adaptor on a 1/4" stud?

When you unthread the cap on my buddies binos it exposes the 1/4" stud rather than his having a 1/4" insert (that most tripod adaptors thread into). I was thinking a 1/4" threaded standoff (IE threaded coupling thing) in the 1/2" to 3/4" length range might connect the dots here. Anyone ran across this before and tried it?

Never heard of this situation before what kind of binoculars?

They are some vortex a few years old, I think diamondbacks.
