Who likes the copper spur? Should i get a one man or two? Ive read that the 0ne man can be a little tight, but if its only me then why the 2?

How tall are you? The weight penalty for a 2 man is negligible. More room helps especially if you're tall. Can keep gear inside instead of in the vestibule.

The 2-man is really a 1-man tent and the 3-man and 4-man are really 2-man tents.......at least for me. Heck, I use my CS UL4 solo most the time.

I have and like the 1 man a lot. I’m average size and have plenty of room for small gear items short of a bag at the foot of the tent. I don’t find it tight but agree with others that the small weight penalty for upsizing is worth it if you’re concerned

My dad through hikes and he uses the copper spur two man. I’m 6’2” 230 and it fits me alone not a second person. My tiger wall fits me and my son it’s a 3 person.

I had a seedhouse2 that I got warranted for a Blacktail3.
That 2man seedhouse might have fit 2 anorexic, vegetarian
Fillipino chicks but only had room for me and my rifle.
And even that was tight.
I hope this new one I can at least put my pack and rifle in.

The side entry definitely makes the CS more attractive than something like the FC/Seedhouse. I owned a Fly Creek once, never again.

I personally have a 1 person CS that's not bad at all. Look, its not a 4 season tent so its not like I'm using it during the winter or late fall when I'm spending a ton of time in the tent due to storms/night coming early. It gets used summer through maybe early September. Yes, it's tight... I take it on trips when I don't plan on being in the tent except to sleep.

If I was a burlier dude I'd probably opt for a 2p. Not that the 1p is like a coffin - there's still a bit of space left to store my rifle and boots inside beside me. I'm 5'9, 175 for reference.

When i’m not using my Zpacks Duplex, I use a Copper Spur 1 man. It works for sleeping in but if you want to bring gear inside with you it’s not going to happen. I keep my gear in the vestibule.

So I’m not sure I would call 12oz negligible. About 30% heavier.

That said I own and have used the UL1 on a handful of nights. It works well but a bit of extra room would be nice. Just depends if you are oz counting or not.

Correction mine is a tiger wall UL 2. We have to put our packs in the vestibule. My 30” wide pad and his 24” pad makes it tight

I have 4 two-man tents. Copper Spur UL2 gets used 95% of the time. Great, lightweight tent. I set up the tent, then my pack and everything in it (except the food bag) stays in the tent. Highest recommendation.

The Copper Spur is a great tent. The UL1 is a bit tight, but not bad. The UL2 is certainly more spacious, and heavier. Unless you expect to be waiting out a lot of storms or really spending a lot of time in it besides sleeping, I would go with the UL1.

Although once I got my Zpacks Triplex, I started leaving all my Big Agnes tents at home.
