WTS BEWARE x2

FT has had issues for years with scams/attempted hacks. There’s lots of postings online and even YT videos about it. Will it ever happen here for a sale? I would say unlikely but possible. You can read about scams on the Apple Support site.

Edit: If someone is highly concerned they should just shop at an actual store. Looking for deals comes with some risk, regardless of precautions. I still would appreciate feedback as it’s mine and they can’t take that away. Yeah, they could hack my account but that’s not a reflection on me. I will always provide my info to any buyer if I’m selling and I do my due diligence in looking at the seller’s activity and account status. Even then I know I’m at risk and acceptance of that is just part of it all. You cannot avoid it.

good to know. How do they use it without being given away?

I have never heard of anyone on here being scammed after using FaceTime to confirm prior to purchase

Honestly, they’re already burning their PayPal accounts and names, so doing a FaceTime call probably doesn’t change much, unless it’s some african from Detroit, which would scare off any buyer 😄

Even with these scams going around, I would never accept PayPal G&S for anything gun-related. If a buyer gets unhappy and opens a dispute after receiving it, claiming something like “the barrel was broken” PayPal can end up locking both accounts, and having funds on hold sucks. Besides, PayPal protection doesn’t cover gun related sales, so there’s no buyer protection for these items anyway.

At the end of the day, F&F is still the best option IF you want to use PayPal for guns.

However, using GunTab would be the best option for both parties. :)

I would think it would be difficult to scam via FaceTime if you require the seller to be holding the item and ask them to show various angles, and, take a screen shot of their face for future use if needed!!

IMG_5050.pngIMG_5051.pngFound another one. Reported profile. Odd that the profile had some real looking responses to threads. Reverse image searches are your friend.

What is a reverse image search? Help a non tech guy out please
You can save the image they send, and search Google with it and it will find any other places the photos have been used. A lot of times they will use photos of an item they find online, that’s what this guy did.

Same guy almost got me. What was particularly clever, is he put up an almost too good to be true price, but said it had no box, just got pulled off a gun he sold, and didn't even have screws. This was definitely not the typical scammer, and definitely seemed to be part of the US gun/hunting world to some degree.
Honestly guys the more we openly post how we catch them before being burned, the more we are educating them to do better next time.
I’ve said it for years and seems we continue to post red-flags and they continue to evolve.
