WTS BEWARE x2

I have bought over 700 items on archery talk and here maybe more. Don’t pay as friends and family ever unless you’re willing to eat that money. Shouldn’t even be allowed to ask this in the damn add imo. I have got taken but PayPal or Venmo always returned my money in short time.

People complain about the fees and it does suck! But when you need it for me it’s been worth it!

I bought some Swaros here recently. I had the fella send me a picture with the date handwritten on a paper with the item. That might help. As someone above mentioned Google some of the phrases. Ask questions only a real seller would know.

Sucks that slimeballs do this. They should be....

It is extremely easy to photoshop anything into a picture. Having them do this is no longer an effective way of checking legitimacy.

$325 for a vx5? I’ll take 10 of them. Seems very similar to the crazy mark down in the post I was involved with.

Yup I might have got got on this one. I was celebrating a birthday last night and saw this and all critical thinking went out the window. I messaged him within minutes of his posting. This morning I come to realize that this was more than likely way to good to be true. I’ll update if it turns out I didnt get scammed.

He sent me this and it still was a scam. No obvious signs of photoshop

Guys. This is the real joelbiltz. Yes my account was hacked. I contacted Robby, Ryan, and Tony yesterday. I changed my password as well. I do not nor did I ever have a Hotmail account. He has somehow managed to get back into my account after I changed the password yesterday too. I have contacted Tony again this morning. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO A Hotmail account.

Did you have 2 factor authentication setup the first time you got hacked? What about the second time?

Crappy situation gents, but it’s not just the buyer side either. Chargeback fraud is real and it’s really easy to get fleeced for your stuff after you think everything is good to go when the package is delivered. I only accept Zelle because there is absolutely zero way to get screwed over after that payment clears. AI has made scamming so smooth it’s scary. FaceTime verify is the closest thing you can get to safe, everything else isn’t particularly hard to emulate.

Yeah. This sux man. As a guy that mostly buys and lurks (as evidence of my FNG status.. but over 1000 posts on AT and 200+ transactions there) this hurts to read. I have gone to the Facetime or Zoom call route like others suggest. If its enough money that it will hurt losing it, that helps to ensure it's good. If anyone balks, I walk.

You all need to stop with the nonsense claiming this was made by AI. It clearly wasn't because AI isn't that good yet, it would have to recreate the image, so some details would be missing. It's pretty clear that this person actually has the products. Think about it: he knows everything about the items he's listing. He’s probably a wellknown member on these forums. Imagine this: he buys one Garmin and then sells it 10 times. Not only does he keep the Garmin, but he also makes 10 times the money. The same could apply to other products. It's pretty obvious that this is one person doing this, and his products and pictures are too good to be AI-generated. unlike the other scammers who always mess up.

Steps for Admin to Take:
1. Reset all passwords.
2. Require timestamped photos for every sales post to filter out scammers.
3. Add a label under our avatars indicating "2FA Activated" or "No 2FA."
4. As for those scammers who already have the products, let’s be realistic, there’s not much we can do about it. We can just buy them from local stores instead.

I've posted it elsewhere but it bears repeating. Use Google lens to reverse image search pictures from classified ads. If you find the exact same picture being used to sell the same item elsewhere for a much different price a year ago, pretty good chance you're looking at a scam. This is not a guarantee but this should be a mandatory item in your checklist to vet legitimacy.
