Can we reopen the original beware thread with joeblitz? I sent him money for a scope yesterday. Today he posted that his account had been hacked. Just trying to get some visibility and making sure it’s actually him I’m interacting with and not the hacker.

I have had 100% positive interactions and transactions on this forum, maybe 10-15 items in total. This is the first time I’ve ever questioned what’s happening. The whole “my account got hacked thing” is not sitting well with me.

I’ve never had an issue on here and will always do PayPal G&S with my CC if it ends up being a scam can always chargeback. No issue for me to eat the additional fee for some peace of mind.

This is a first for me. I’ve always done F&F without an issue. I think it will also be the last time. Not worth not having it.

They got me for $385 on a Garmin Xero. Very convincing post, and very authentic looking picture with a timestamp

Yeah, unfortunately can’t trust anything anymore. I’m sure PayPal isn’t going to do anything about it since I paid with F&F based on his reputation here

That’s where I got the red flags. Everything was on the up and up until that. He replied via DM that everything was ok. I asked him for his phone number to clear the air and haven’t heard back.

I saw that add for the Garmin. Sorry you got scammed! I almost thought about buying it. Scammers are getting very good. Too good…

Of all you people that say you have been burned. Did you ever actually speak with the person on the phone? Hearing kids in the background or a dog barking vs not wanting to talk to you seems like a pretty good idea.

I've done a fair amount of F&F w/o issue but I strongly recommend for any purchase get a phone number and talk to the seller.

That stinks. I’ve done a lot of interactions as seller and buyer and it’s been nothing but positive. I hope this gets resolved positively. This place is a great community and I hate that weasels sometimes sneak in.

I think I’m stuck because of friends and family through PayPal. Had I done goods and services I would have been covered. Still radio silence from the selling party.
