To the OP... Congrat's on keeping your cool... I don't do that so well when things go south lol
Fair criticism. I really did consider just letting it slide without making anything public, but ultimately decided to give fair warning to other potential buyers, especially given the seller's reluctance to own up to his mistake (first response to my refund request was "No", second offer was "You ship on the promise that I'll pay upon receipt", third offer was to refund the purchase price prior to shipping but refusal to pay for return shipping). Disclosing all the correspondence with screenshot evidence might have been a little over the top, but I wanted to be as objective and fair as possible.I agree with the OP. But, this whole post does seem like a slight overreaction. Not much, but some.
Note that I didn't call for the seller be banned.
I generally agree with this but in this case DW and DL are pretty basic info that should be described accurately. Like buying a 3006 and receiving a 308. I've bought a a half dozen bows online and never asked for pictures of the DW sticker or draw mods. All have been as described.Pretty good lessons here...
1. Take good f’n pictures.
2. Ask for more pictures.
3. Describe FULLY. I’ve bought plenty of sharpied scopes.
4. Don’t deal with classifieds cowboys. There are a few that are good.
5. At 65, even gramps can act like an asshole.
I didn't get the mods involved and don't plan to. I've heard them say before how much of a hassle managing the classifieds can be for them, and I don't want to bother them with my drama. This thread and the profile feedback I left for the seller will have the desired effect of warning any potential buyer who takes the time to do a bit of research.Did you get mods involved with this? What’s their take?
Done.Leave feedback for him
All good observations. There's always going to be some level of trust required when making purchases over the Internet, but I will starting ask for photos confirming advertised specs in the future.Pretty good lessons here...

Fair point. I did accept the seller's final refund offer (after asking him multiple times to cover return shipping) over the alternative of filing a fraud claim with PayPal. However, honest public feedback should be expected when transacting on Rokslide, and I consider this thread part of that feedback. Some folks (maybe most) would've kept quiet and moved on, and I don't begrudge anyone who made/would make that decision, but if feedback such as this had been available prior to my transaction, I probably would've avoided the seller entirely.Second, once a deal was struck and the buyer accepted the return transaction that should have been the end of it. I can see the ethics and hurt feeling but...you did accept the deal on the return. Personally I would have sucked it up and not said anything cause after all....it is only 20 bucks (I just love my social security check...pays for my elk hunt!). Banning him continues the negative mojo and I think in this case a good spanking was due and delivered.
Disappointment with the sale price might have influenced the seller's behavior, but he freely accepted my offer and the bow didn't appear to be getting much attention at the original asking price (one price drop and no visible replies to the ad a week after posting). Regardless, we made a deal for a certain bow at a certain price. I kept my end of the deal.Seller mighta been a bit pissed he got $350 when he wanted $375 too...
What # are you referring to? I didn't know the seller's full name until looking up his PayPal handle and never had his phone number. I did review his Rokslide history prior to making the purchase and found one positive review as a buyer and several apparently completed sales (with no corresponding feedback).2 second google of his # coulda saved you a whole lotta time... very first line was "SCAM ALERT"
I'm def not defending the dbag, doing homework pays off sometimes
