Looking for something between the two.

I’ve always had heavier hunting and hiking boots but have been wearing the Merrels more lately.
I really like the lighter weight, conforming sole and nimbleness of the Merrel.

What I don’t like is that my foot seems to slide around a lot. I’d also like something a little taller and waterproof.
The waterproofing is more for heavy dew and mud. Not stream crossings.

Usually wear 9.5 EE so a wide toe box would be nice.

ETA. Side hilling is where my foot seemed to slide around the most.

Crispi Lapponia would get my vote. It's the only durable waterproof leather boot that's light enough for me. Feels like a beefed up trail runner but it's made to last.

I’ve good things about the Salomon’s other than the waterproof side of things.
Seems like they develop leeks very quickly.

I do like the Crispis mentioned above.
A pond less than my Meindls has my attention.

Salomon durability sucks ass compared to other boots, but they are comfortable and do fit well.

I look at them as almost a disposable wear item… like a bowstring … one pair every season or so. Buy em on sale.

But a boot that fits and is comfy is worth replacing

Thanks.

I’m really not looking to replace them every year.
I’d rather spend a little more and get something that will last.
