Best wiper blades for wintry conditions

Not sure where else to post this, but you fellas that live and travel regularly in snowy/icy conditions, what are the best wiper blades to use? Might sound like a stupid question, but when the cold stuff starts falling, I would like to have the best (at least better than what I normally use) wiper blades. Cost is not a factor. I want whatever you have found that works best. I have some spray windshield de-icer for when the vehicle is left overnight, and I plan to raise the wiper arms away from the windshield and cover them with old heavy wool socks, but I am looking for the best blades for use while driving in snow or icy conditions. Thanks !

Those Bosch Icons make the top of every winter blade test, and at $30+ per blade should be good. They may be the best blade in the world, but I always get the lower tier $20 blades.

While living in a place with 300 days of rain a year and freezing rain almost every night in the winter, I bought every blade that was in stock locally from stupid expensive to cheap because we went through them often, mis matching them on each car, and changing them when they first start to streak. I found it interesting some blades, both premium and cheap, last a long time and another identical blade is crap in a month. The cost per year of ordinary blades was less than premium blades, so ever since I’ve just used ordinary middle of the road blades. Maybe materials have changed significantly since then, but I doubt it.

Another vote for the Bosch Icon wiper blades. Brakes, tires and wipers blades are the three things I won't compromise on with my vehicles - all for obvious reasons. No doubt they are expensive but they pay for themselves in those instances where its dark and wet.

Don’t know what is the best but I stay with the beam style and not the traditional. Also invest in some cold weather washer fluid/ deicer and a spare set of blades (your old ones if not completely worn out).

I already have a gallon of RainX-30 degree washer fluid. Thanks for the heads up on the beam type of wiper. I didn't know that was a thing. I don't mind spending more for quality blades or for something better that will make the trip safer. If you can't see, it's not a good thing. Don't need any extra excitement on the trip. Driving in snow and icy conditions is not something I do regularly here in New Orleans. Our "once in a ten year" snow event usually melts within an hour, so we don't equip our vehicles with that cold weather stuff.

I forgot to mention this too, keep your defroster on at all times when it’s cold. You can adjust the temperature as needed but glass gets condensation fast when cold so don’t think it’s an instant fix when turning it on. If you have a little blow torch you can clear hard ice from your mirrors quickly.

The beam type, do they come in the Bosch Icon or the Trico ICE? Or do they just come "beam style" and you get that type of blade? I guess what I'm asking is the beam style only the wiper blade with rubber insert, or is it the arm too that attaches to the blade? It seems the Bosch Icon is the highest rated and recommended blade for winter weather, and I wonder if it is available in the beam type?

Only ones here I would not recommend are the insight blades. They have brakes in the plastic where ice can form preventing flex. It does look like some of these beam type blades do have a replaceable insert. I personally don’t care for that regardless of the backing to them as it’s just one more moving part that can fail. Seems like they are all trash. I replace mine least twice a year.

I’ve salvaged some blades cleaning them with wd40!

If you know it’s going to snow overnight, prop them up so they don’t freeze to windshield!

I've had great luck with whatever premium rain x model walmart has, wash and clean my windows with rain x glass cleaner, and use strait rain x washer fluid.

Recently started using the rain x with ceramic stuff, its a brown bottle and works great but make sure you thoroughly clean your windows first, and then make sure you wipe off ALL the excess glass cleaner. Others dust/debris WILL stick to it. Water has been beading off for a couple months

I live in Western Washington where our wipers get a lot of abuse most of the year. I tried the Bosch and was disappointed. The Rain-X is my go to now.

Forget the wool socks on your wipers. Just start your truck and turn on the defroster.

Toyota Sightline has been my go to because for the price they have given me the best winter longevity and performance. Though I’ll probably be switching soon because they raised prices and cut quality.

Otherwise I have tried them all and they all perform about the same. Some are just better than others at wiping out your bank account.
