Best way to carry rifle on Mystery Ranch Metcalf?

On the mystery ranch metcalf - guide light, do you need the small or large waist belt strap for the universal gun bearer?

Small strap is plenty. Strap goes all the way around the waist belt and ends flush with the Velcro leaving no tab sticking out, the large strap would have way to much extra strap left over. I purchased both a few years ago as I couldn't find the answer back then.
