Whats the best system for carrying the rifle on the pack.

I am thinking Kifaru aux gun bearer?

The Gun Bearer is the best way I have found to attach a rifle to any pack. Mine is over a dozen years old and has been on quite a few different models.

Gun bearer of course or a large belt pouch on the side to hold the buttstock then use the side compression straps to cinch in the stock/barrel

I use the gun bearer also. If I am in "hunt mode" I keep it attatched the way you see it displayed in the pictures with the muzzle waving infront of your face. If I'm trying to make miles into camp I will move the locking harness to the top strap of the side pocket so the gun is out of my way completely.

Another shining recommendation for the gun bearer. I carried used it with a loaded back carrying a 300 win mag for 5 miles and using trekking poles. Stayed out of the way and had good access. I was more in "worried about a bear" mode than in "hunt mode" but it gave quick access felt good. On the trip out my buddy wanted to try it so I let him use it and used the pocket and compression strap method. That method was more secure, but had not quick access. Also, made me a little nervous about falling and damaging rifle.

I would recommend some practice fittings to avoid a barrel to the face.

Not sure if the link will work, but this is how Becca and I have been carrying our rifles for the past 5 years now and I find I prefer it to the gun bearer. Certainly nothing wrong with the gun bearer I just found I prefer to carry a rifle this way more after trying ninth quite a bit. More or less personal preference I am sure.

Can you explain that a little Luke? I can't make out the details in the video.

First view shows the medium pocket setup.

What holds the rifle up top if the pocket holds the bottom? I get the compression strap but from the video you dismounted the rifle and didn't undo anything I don't think.

No pocket holding the stock up on the bottom. Its a modified corral gun slinger on the waistbelt. The top is connected via some elastic cord around the stay of the pack that the barrel of the rifle slides through.

Link works Luke but no audio to it. What's that clip set up on the bottom?

When using the standard gun bearer with the barrell coming in front of you underneath your arm, what is holding the gun at that angle? I ordered a gun bearer and still haven't connected it to my pack to try it as I've been too busy scouting, working, and doing other stuff. Is there another piece besides the gun cradle that attaches to the pack that I didn't get?
