Best/warmest late season still hunting gloves?

Looking for a glove option to use when early morning glassing. Warmth is the only priority. I will only be wearing these while sitting for prolong periods in the mornings or evening trying to find animals.

I have Sitka jet stream gloves with Sitka core and first lite merino base layer gloves and those layers aren't cutting it for me. My hands are cold within 30 mins usually and I have to keep stuffing them in my coat pockets to warm up.

Do you care if it is touch screen compatible? I've been looking for something similar, but touch screen compatible is a feature I would like to have.

Good info here:

I've also had good luck with the Chilly Grip gloves Luke mentions. Not to fancy, certainly not very breathable, but they work pretty good for working outside shoveling snow and the like.
Luke's link is from 2012, looks like this is the updated link here:

I'm not exactly sure what model number he uses, my wife bought me two pair of the A313 as a stocking stuffer a few years back. I have never hunted in them, but am going to throw one pair in my kit to try out when we go hiking next weekend.

Black Diamond Patrol gloves, they are expensive, but worth it!!
If you can catch a sale somewhere, they are discounted occasionally.

They will last for years, and are one of the few gloves that will actually keep your hands warm, short of mittens.

Kinda depends on what you are really looking for. I picked up a pair of OR Firebrand Mitts with the plan to use them in December on a bison hunt. I haven't had a chance to use them in the cold yet but they sure seem legit. Now, they are big and bulky but I'm pretty confident they will keep my hands warm. Also, I think i picked them up off the classifieds here so I didn't pay near that much for them.

The nice thing about mitts is you can have a little hand warmer in there down by the fingers which you can't with gloves.

Now, the main downside is I will have to take these off to shoot or do anything that requires the slightest dexterity but I will probably wear a pair of merino liners along with them so I can function in the cold for a little bit once the gloves are off.

Another suggestion, I have been really happy with a pair of MT50 Glommet gloves I've had from Cabela's for years. I've worn them ice fishing in temps -10* and below and they have served me well.

So I saw these gloves a year or so ago and I think they might be the warmest option for stand hunting if you don't really care about weight. They have a little zipper right by your trigger finger where you can stick the trigger through the mitten and shoot without taking them off,

Also, for those concerned about adding touch screen support to any glove grab some conductive thread and just sew a little bit onto the finger tip. http://www.instructables.com/id/Making-A-Glove-Work-With-A-Touch-Screen/

Thanks for the ideas and input guys. I like the idea of a mitten and see how it can be a lot warmer than gloves.

Weight is not a concern, these will be used for late season rifle hunts where we pack in and glass in the mornings and evenings when it's cold, so the added comfort for the weight penalty in a day pack is not a concern.

Let me know how these work, I have been pleased with the Kuiu gaiters that I have, but I hated the icon pro pack. Not really relevant to gloves, but just saying it's been hit or miss with Kuiu for me so far. I checked them out on their website and did a few google searches - not a lot of reviews on them it seems.

I ordered the kuiu super down mitts to try them out. They should be here before I leave friday for another weekend hunt and it is supposed to get cold here in Colorado this weekend for me to try them out. I will let everyone know my thoughts. If I don't like them I will try the black diamond ones.

I am keeping te Kuiu super down mittens. I tried those and some OR ones I bought at REI. I thought the Kuiu ones were warmer, but also way easier to slip on and off while wearing first lite wool liner gloves. They have that same slick "puffy jacket" liner in the inside, not fleece that gets all bunched up.

I hated the Kuiu pack that I had, but I love these mittens! My hands were toasty glassing the past 4 days in single digit temps (7 to 9 degrees the last few mornings).

Bumping this older thread for an update on the Kuiu down mitts.
Bright white, how have they held up for you? Still happy with them? Do you have an actual weight on them? Im looking at them to replace my other big heavy mitts, at 4.6oz they would almost be half the weight and Im sure they would pack down much smaller as well.

Yes, I am still happy with them, they are super warm, which was the #1 reason I bought them. Where they lack is giving you dexterity. They are pretty slick (the inside and outside are just like a down jacket or sleeping bag type material), so they don't grip my tripod or binoculars very well if I am trying to make adjustments on my pan head or whatever. They are good a just holding on to binos and doing simple things.

What I also like about them is I can wear liners under them with plenty of room, so if I need to pull my hands out to do something they are protected with a thinner layer.

Can't recall what I paid for them, but I would buy them again and they will be in my pack when 3rd rifle season rolls around this year. The only Kuiu I own are those mitts and the gaiters, I like both products.

Oh, not sure on the weight and don't have anything but a body weight scale to weigh them which won't work. They are light as air though, they add nothing to your pack weight hardly and compress down to baseball size if you need too.

I know this is an older thread, but I'd check out the new FL Grizzly Cold Weather Gloves...

I've got a pair that I'm eagerly waiting for some cold weather to try them out... I'll report back when I have more info.
