I'm looking for opinions on what would be your go to glass for 1,000 or less. I've been looking at the Sig Zulu 6 12x42 IS or picking up a lightly used pair of Vortex Razor HD or UHD. I'm curious to see what people might say from actual field experience with these vs just what I can read online. I currently run Viper 12x50's. Any insight is appreciated! Or if something else would be a better choice??

Nikon is by far the best glass for the Money. I have a pair of 10x Prostaff 7s that I've had for years that I always gravitate back to. Maven C series is pretty impressive as well for the money.

The Sigs will be comparable to your Vipers in glass quality, but the IS really makes them shine. I love mine and hardly ever grab my SLC's now unless I know I will be sitting on a tripod.

I recently got a pair of Tract Torics and they are pretty awesome for the money. Clear and the armor is really beefy. The Mavens I have seem a little more refined, but more fragile at the same time. Plenty of used Mavens on here at the moment.

FOV is terrible, ergonomics are as well. If/when electronics give out your left with a big zero.
This doesn’t help if the optic breaks on the hunt but Sig now has an “infinite” guarantee like vortex provides. If the binos break they will fix or replace them for free.

Opticron Aurora. Go to birdforum and read the reviews comparing them to the Zeiss SFL and Leica Noctovid.

I love the Nikon MHG, but the Aurora is better optically. If not that, then something in the Maven B series. I really like the 9x45 B2 but it's a little heavy.

Upgraded from Vortex Diamondbacks to Razor 10x42’s a few years back and have never been too impressed. Looking hard at Zeiss HDX or Maven B1.2’s myself
