Best stove for over nighters

I've used the msr pocket rocket for 10 years or so without issue. My hunting partner has one too but we have only bought both on a Alaskan trip but didn't use it. Are there better stoves yes but not for the money

The Soto Windmaster stove with a Olie Camp pot has been working well for me for a few years now.

Well, over the years, I have had a shit load of stoves. MSR, svea, optimus, coleman, oilcamp, snowpeak, jetboil, yadayadayada................
The soto windmaster rocks. I have never done a boil test but it always boils first when compared to the other guys. And unlike jetboils, the igniter has never failed.

Save yourself a lot of trouble and just get this combo. Tried the MSR pocket rocket, Snowpeak Giga and a couple others. While they will all get the job done the Windmaster is the best of the bunch.

The GSI Halulite minimalist kit is another good option if you are solo most of the time and the price is right.

Well of course the decision is based on different criteria;
Size

Weight

Ease of use....essentially how much you want to dink with stuff

I like messing with the little homemade wood burners on summer backpacking trips....but when hunting, I want the quick and easy of the little Butane stoves. I've been using a little compact version- Optimus [I think] for about 12 years now...and the small canister with stove all fits in a small Ti pot. Fast, easy, light and compact.

thx guys, saving me money up front, something I didn't learn in the back pack world, next thread will be on tent choices
lol

Yeah, backpack and backpack hunting share principles but have different needs. For example a pop can alcohol stove may work fine for the Appalachian trail at 3k but when hunting, camping at 7k + most want an iso-butane burner to to get it done quick, maximizing time for hunting.

I have an esbit fuel tab, sterno folding stove and they are fun to teach the kids with but only take them on picnics and some day trips.

There is a small folding stove that can use a popcan stove or feed it twigs. Dual purpose but darn fire bans here I'll never use it.
