RE: Alaska
Moose population currently in decline.
Sheep population currently in decline.
Caribou population currently in decline.
Lots of competition currently between subsistence, residents, and non-residents.
Duck season is very short.
Deer - have to travel to hunt.
Alaska is not as easy to hunt as people think it is, especially in the current environment.
Maybe in a few years?
I’m originally from Texas, and I would say Texas is much better at this time. If you do leave, get your $1000 lifetime license so you can go back unlimited.

Been mulling over the upper midwest again becuase of months long archery deer seasons, long bird seasons and affordable.
I could do that type of winter again but not too sure I really want to though.

Wyoming looks great. I am making the same decisions soon as I am retired. I have a waterfowl and upland house in ND already, I got for a song a few years ago.

Now going between SD and Wyoming for living, both won’t tax my Fed Pension, Wyoming has a lot of pluses but the health care availability really knocks it a little for me.
