nphunter, thanks for the input and tip, sounds very tempting. But man, Oregon is a long way from STL MO! Might have to put that off and consider in a few years when retired and have more time for the drive out.

I will second the Wyoming Reduced price type 6 tag or even a type 4 tag. Keep building points by applying for a difficult Type 1 tag and draw as your second choice. Most wyoming herds are over objective and there is a fair bit of public that is not wilderness.

Oregon, can buy a damage tag anytime and hunt from Aug 1-Nov 31 in most units in EO. If you end up doing it shot me a PM and I’ll tell you where you can find a couple cows in short order.
Can you pls PM me.

No offense to the op intended but threads like these are pretty laughable. Diy Cow elk on public land are typically very challenging and are as safely guarded as bull hunts by most. If any of you know of an easy cow hunt with easy to get tags, keep it to yourself or it won't be that way long.

If a guy is willing to go guided, I would be glad to help and don't mind posting publicly. Area 6 in Wyoming usually don't sell out of reduced price cow tags. Guided hunts are reasonable and most hunts are 100% opportunity. Area 108 in Wyoming is similar for the guided cow elk hunts. Public land in those areas are however not easy for
