Best slider sight...are there differences?

What's your favorite multi pin slider sight for hunting? Any brands or models stand out? Or are the major brands (Axcel, MBG, Spott Hogg, UV all equiv?).

What are you shooting and what do you like/dislike of your rig?
 
I like the HHA tetras. Have a few different sight pin configurations, but I prefer the two pin vertical. Have a spot hog Fast Eddie as well, built like a tank but quite a bit heavier then the HHA’s.
 
I have a BG Pro Sight on my now backup bow. Loved it. I liked that everything was micro adjust. I like that you can adjust all the pins within the housing as a gang. What I didn't like was that it just seemed kind of complicated.

I went with the Axcel Driver for my new bow. Absolutely love it. Love everything about it. This thing is incredibly well designed. Easy to adjust. Super light.

I am a 5 pin guy for western hunting.

Check out option archery. Nothing else like it. Great sight for hunting.
 
I would say that most of those brands are comparable. Axcel, MBG, Spott Hogg, UV, HHA, Option (Less known) are all top notch and make excellent sights. There are subtle differences (IMO) between them. Some have features you may like/not like, and that to me is makes them different. It helps to figure out what matters most to you about the sight and that may draw you to one brand or another. I have owned spot hogg- (triple stack) it's built like a tank and so was heavy (have not tried the boonie-the lighter sight). MBG I've shot for years and still have a custom pro sight 3 pin (it's for sale in classifieds though) and it has amazing pins that bright, clear, but it is a little complicated... and currently I am waiting for an axcel driver as this is my next sight.

But honestly all those brands are amazing and I wouldn't be griping any of them. They all have something slightly different that are pretty cool.

If price is a factor----I would say the Option Archery and UV are going to be more expensive in general. A basic UV slider was initially $599, the mathews edition is $699. The non mathews edition is less now, especially without the light kit.
 
Personally, my favorite for hunting is a Spot Hogg Father or Tommy with the old style, small housing in 3 or 5 pin with 19 pins. I put durability over about all else, I think SH makes the most durable, while still offering things like 2nd and 3rd axis adjustments. They are also scaled so I can pull numbers and put them in a program to print a tape.

Most everyone is making a good sight anymore, the pins seem brightest with Black Gold, Axcel has some neat indents to stop the slider at points so you can adjust it by feel. The UV Slider and the Dialed sight have a really streamlined sight base, I prefer some other designs for sight housings, but they are easy to use.

It's personal, but I prefer to have my top pin in the center of my housing, thats generally the one you will shoot the best. I usually use it as my floater too.
 
Ran a HHA Tetra solo pin for about 5 years and I loved it crazy accurate (I’ll take the credit for that) but I wanted to have some more pins for situations happening fast as they usually do in hunting scenarios wether it’s in a tree stand in thickets or big timber after whitetail or out west chasing muleys and I don’t necessarily like to compensate my aiming point on the animal with one pin set on 20 yards or moving it to 30yards and leaving it there for further shots when there’s no time to dial and I got tired of wasting time dialing from my set yardage at 20 or 30 to say 45 when a buck is cruising at 45 or further (also I’m shooting almost a 600 grain arrow so yes I get a bit of drop I know) so I kept the tetra frame and dial and got a UV3XL scope which has 3 horizontal fixed pins and a bonus small vertical pin right above the bubble and I’ll never look back. Now of course if anything is past 50 I’ll dial based on the species and animal but having the set pins and one floater (middle horizontal pin) has been awesome.
 
My favorite has been the HHA Tetra Max 2 Pin. Gives the sight picture of a single pin but has an additional aiming point. I have been shooting a vertical pin since 2015. I wouldn't go back to horizontal pins.
 
My local Scheels has pretty much all of these "flagship" sights in stock, out of the box, in a case so you can fondle them all at once. If you have one near you, they might have the same. Being able to do that is what swayed me to the Driver.
 
I'm still running a SH Tommy Hogg. It has done very well. Don't be afraid to hunt with a single pin slider.
 
I like HHA and SH. have used multiple models over the years. only Black Gold I had stripped and broke I would not recommend them

I just don't trust myself to quickly dial from 20 to 60yds in a sudden situation. I do like simple view of a single pin slider
 
A guy a couple weeks ago lost his entire mbg sight housing when the dovetail broke. How's the warranty help when you're 6 hours from the truck and a full day away from an archery shop?

That tends to happen when people over torque things. It's very obvious that's what caused that break from the image.

Watching most people work on bows, including at shops, by and large, they are WAAAAY over tightening bolts on everything they touch. That's a huge reason why I do 100% of my own work. I had to drill out a rest clamp bolt one time from some shop monkey over tightening it. That was my last straw.

I'm not saying MBG sights are as rough and tough at the Spott Hoggs you love, but they don't just break. People break them by doing things they shouldn't. Overtightening bolts and turning the slider knob with the lever locked down are the most common. Don't abuse your sight and it won't break.

Don't know, didn't try to warranty that situation.. How did the dovetail break?

Thread 'Black Gold Mountain Light - Ever See This? Warranty?'

Howdy Folks,

I've been using a BG Mountain Lite for a few years and was surprised when I pulled up for a shot and my pin housing was gone. Anyone ever snap theirs off? I don't remember dumping my bow or anything which would have caused this.
I reached out to BG to see what they'll do for me but, their warranty doesn't cover 'lost' equipment. Does this constitute lost or broken?

I guess we'll see. I love the sight so, I hope they back it up.
 
I started using a slider about 6 years ago. Decided to try a SH Fast Eddie MRT because I’d been using SH 5 & 7 pin sights for years without any issues.
Went with the 3 horizontal pin model, still wanted the ability to shoot quick with pin gaps and I just prefer horizontal pins.
After 6 years, I’ve not found a reason to change. Easy to set up the sight. Easy to micro adjust the pins. Like the extra rings to adjust sight picture in the peep. Solid lock down, I’ve never had it move. And lastly, SH is bomb proof. I’ve dropped my bow out of a tree stand, 25’ fall, rode in a soft case to Saskatchewan and Colorado, rode on the front rack of the quad and after everything, still dead one.
For all these reasons, I’ve not found any reason to change. If I did, it would probably be an Option Archery Canyon Pounder, after I got past the sticker shock.
