Only a handful of places for a mile in the entire state of NC. And yes you’ll pay the private membership prices. I am blessed to have a place I can shoot out to 1300 privately 7 days a week

I’m surprised there’s that many. Just for grins, going to try and find out how many 500, 1,000, and 1 mile ranges are in Georgia.

Live outside of Savannah. For 1K, Cool Acres is the only one that makes sense for me.

Mission Rod and gun club in Mission BC.
300m rifle range, pistol range, cowboy action, multi purpose range out to 100, 3 pistol bays, trap, skeet, 5 stand, 90 yard 2D flat field archery range (may be getting out to 120 soon), 40 target 3D trail (soon to be 60 targets and plans to get 80 out there).
One of the biggest clubs in Canada member-wise.

Cool Acres = 1400
Arena near Blakely GA = 2000+ yards (2600?)
17 South = 500ish
River Bend Gun Club = 600+
Multiple private hunting clubs with ranges to 1000
Multiple US military facilities with LONG ranges if you can get access

Almost all of those ranges I listed are private or only open for competition
You likely are not shooting past 200-300 yards in the East or Midwest without something being a private range.

The only question is does private just mean paying $400/year and a 2 hour safety orientation or does it mean you have to get existing member references and placed on a years long waitlist.

The good clubs actively improving their ranges usually are just money and some training. There are plenty of legacy ranges which are good ol’ boy clubs with low fee’s and lesser facilities.

I’m blessed to have my own range that goes out to 900, but in Texas Gravestone Precision is a heck of a nice range.

I’m a member of 17 South. Arena is a training facility only, no individual memberships. River Bend , not familiar. Might check to see if Ft. Stewart has ranges that might allow private shooting.

Back in Iowa I loved the Izaak Walton range outside Anamosa. Cheap, 300 yards, and rarely used.

Outside Boise now I just go south of town and shoot in the desert. There are a few nice looking private ranges around, but I've yet to check them out.

The Deep Creek Shooting Range near Missoula, MT, is famous for pushing 1000-yard benchrest records, with shooters like Jim Roberts (2.6872” for 10 shots in 2014) and Cody Finch (3.687” World Record LG in July 2014) setting benchmarks, but the records constantly evolve, with recent years seeing multiple shooters (like David Torgerson, Nick Howlett, Tom Mousel) breaking IBS Light Gun/Heavy Gun aggregate records with groups under 4 inches, showcasing elite performance in the 6mm Dasher/BR cartridges.
Key Record Holders & Milestones:
  • Jim Roberts (2014): Shot a 2.6872-inch 10-shot group in April, near 0.25 MOA, using a 6mm Dasher.
  • Cody Finch (July 2014): Set a World Record for Light Gun (LG) with a 3.687-inch group, surpassing Jim Roberts' record.
  • Tom Mousel & David Torgerson (2022-2023): Broke multiple IBS Light Gun aggregate records, with Tom Mousel achieving a 3.4730-inch 12-target group and 3.7749-inch score in 2022, while David Torgerson hit a 3.922" 20-target group in 2024.
  • Nick Howlett & Lonnie Anderson: Also among top performers in 2024, breaking the

There's only a handful of private ranges in minnesota that are even on par or better than some of the standard CPW ranges in Colorado. And I'd rather go to the CPW ranges than the 1000 yd range in MN that was a PITA to gain membership to.

Yea hard to find much in MN other than 100-200 yard bench shooting.

Im just finishing up a 400 yarder at my cabin. Need to clear a bit more timber yet.

Mostly shoot WI county land clear cuts.

Pueblo West Sportsman's Association in CO, it's a private range that took me 7 years to get in but it's such a nice range and well worth the wait. The membership was limited because of insurance reasons but I believe that has been changed recently. There's six pistol ranges with metal gongs, 100, 200, 300, 425 and a 600 yard rifle ranges (must qualify for it first), two shotgun ranges, 200 m blackpowder range and an archery range. The yearly price is cheap compared to other front range areas and there's always a range to use when I go. Now I need to make more time to go.

Sounds nice. Our private range only goes out to 500. Has trap/skeet houses and a pistol/shotgun pit. No qual required, just don't shoot the cattle or the elk/deer that wander into it.

Dirt cheap also.
