I had this debate with a friend, now let’s hear it:

Vortex Razor 27-60x85 vs Vortex Razor 22-48x66

Are you going smaller and lighter or bigger and more reach? Or something totally different?
And what’s the reason?

Lightest and best glass you can afford would be my choice. Also depends how far you are lugging it.

I take the little one when going solo. Big one when going with a partner.

40-48 power isn't enough magnification, in my experience, to count rings or judge thin tips from more than 200-300 yards away, less if visibility isn't great.

The primary factor in my decision making as to which one to take it weight and space. That, and lately I don't find myself trying to squeak out a barely legal ram. I am looking for the no-brainer that you don't need big glass to judge. One look and you know sorta ram.

I swapped out the Razor HD 22-48 for the Swaro ATC 17-40 and am quite happy with the weight/space savings without much loss to magnification range.

Agreed. I’m just covering as much ground as I can, I don’t want to sit on a maybe legal ram forever. Then again, I’m also ok coming home without one too
