Best Route to WY from NC

I wanted to drive from VA to Cody but my hunting buddies didn't want to. They're in Mass and I was going to have them fly to St. Louis and pick them up. Then complete the drive. I hate the idea of not having my truck and worrying about luggage, getting meat home, etc. Flying to Cody 10/12.

Good luck on the drive. I don't think you'll need to stress about Nashville that much. I drive through there on my Arkansas duck hunting trips annually and it's never terrible (morning commute times). Not worth the drive up to KY for it.

I use the 9 your fine 10 your mine method. It saves a couple hours on my trip to Colorado but its a wash due to the stopping for fuel and pee breaks...I normally end up out there within 1 hour of what the Garmin says when I start the truck up.

Flying to Missoula for rifle elk in November. Cant reach making the drive to MT. i dont have that in me.
Same here. Flying to Boise in about 2 weeks. I think I'm counting down the seconds at this point.

Leaving Greenville, SC for Emigrant, MT Oct 25 (1/2 day a work) stopping in Waverly Tn to p/u a friend, Leaving there the 26th for check in by noon the 29th. Returning Nov 4th hopefully with a 15cuft freezer loaded with elk, deer..Headed towards Denver on I-70 from St Louis then cutting up North to I-90. Will come back I-90, I-29 to I-70 for a different scenery..unless ya'll advises otherwise, looks like ALTO of construction 90-29 way...

From 06 to 11 I did central CO to Southern IL and back approximately 10 times (once in spring, once in fall), driving through KC and SL each way. Both have plenty of traffic, but I dislike SL the most.
Now from MT, we add in Omaha and a different route through KC, but I still dislike driving through SL the most. We've done that drive and back approximately six times since 2011.

We do straight through driving at night on the way to IL, but split into 2 days on the way back. Night time is so much easier through KC or SL, but I can never avoid at least one of them during peak traffic. Bypass routes typically take just as long as straight through. SL does seem easier now that the new bridge is complete, but I just dont like SL.

I live 35 mins from Greenville, just on the state line of hwy 25. I dont envy your Drive to MT!! i get there the day you return myself. Flying on that one though. I created a Delta Shipper account for my meat and coolers. Should be interesting. Flying out of GSP on that one.

going from northern va to nw colo for first rifle elk. wifey tagging along. we're doing the opposite. shows about 30 hours and we're going to take six days to go out, driving 5 hours/day and playing around/siteseeing the rest of each day.

Sounds like my in-laws. They take at least three days to go from IL to MT when they come to visit. They've vowed to never drive it again but instead fly.

It can be an interesting drive at Christmas. I think we did that 3 times before deciding that a Christmas visit wasn't worth the ice and snow risk for that distance.

This is why i cant take my wife with me! lol It takes me a day and a half to do a 30 hour drive with my buddy including 1 quick hotel stay. Thats 4.5 more days of hunting! Seriously though, i just want to be hunting when i leave work on that last friday before the trip.

Wow! It's good to see all the folks from the Carolinas. I have been trying to get the gumption to go for a DIY bowhunt 2019 but not looking forward to the drive. Good to know that its not as big of a deal as I had tought.

Drove last year to Wyoming from SC (Clemson)...Atl, Chattanooga, Nashville, St. Louis(overnighted with friends), Kansas City then north to Lincoln Ne. West across Nebraska and spent 2nd night in North Platte Ne...west again through Cheyenne and then north to Douglas by lunch on the 3rd day. Drove solo and the drive wasn't bad at all. Podcast, XM radio, and stretching at fuel stops were key. Only drove during daylight and felt great and ready to hunt on arrival.

Seems like people are checking in.. From capital area in PA 3rd year now, 24hrs straight drive to Denver. Leaving Wednesday.

Damn you guys are some road warriors. I fly a lot for work so used miles to pay for my flight to CO in two weeks- made the decision easy.

Safe driving and good luck to ya’ll!

If you don’t bring me Bojangles and Cheerwine, I’ll figure out how to ruin your hunt. And yes, I’m okay with three day old Bojangles.

Just let me know when you're planning to get off the interstate in Livingston. I'll be there to return the favor.

We are actually planning on spending a night in Livingston then hitting Emigrant the morning of the 29th. What do you want from Bojangles, pm me your # and We'll make it happen..haha
